Technics SL-QD33

Found a Technics SL-QD33 at a thrift store. Does anyone know how to make a replacement ground wire? I know you can buy them but am curious if one can be made.

In the past I have made a ground wire by taking a red butt connector and cutting off half of the insulation. When just the metal part was exposed it was just the right size to fit into the plug in the back of the turntable.

There are a few variations of size here, and the butt connector may not work. If you have some it's pretty easy to try.

I just roll a utility knife back and forth (rolling the butt connector) until i've cut through the insulation.

If it is the kind that does NOT have a pin in the center you can also make a ground wire from the center post of a junk RCA connector.
On the center pin style tables I usually just open it up an hard wire it.

I found a picture online and it looks like this turntable does have the small pin. I don't think my butt connector recommendation will work for this particular turntable. Sorry!

I do like the option of hard wiring though

Since I can't post a link. Item # 262294010749 on the action site has the correct connector for the QD33. Of course, hard wiring this is a fairly simple procedure.

It has the center pin. Although, the butt connector seems to work fine. The hole on the one I used just fits over the pin and the trimmed off part fits in the plug.
However, it's in really good shape and was cheap so I will probably just buy the correct one.

Full Compass has the correct part (just found it). Do a Google search for technics ground wire.

If you're handy with a soldering iron and don't mind opening her up, just run a jumper wire from the ground connection to either the green or blue RCA connections. Then you won't need the ground wire at all.

These are very easy to open up. I hard-wire new ground wires to these quite frequently, it's a 5 minute job.

By the way, $20 will get you a brand new AT-92ECD off of Amazon. That cart + this table makes for a real sleeper. Sounds excellent.
