Technics SL1200 MK2 Pitch Adjustment

Guys, locally I found a pair of SL1200-MK2 with rigid case for a good price. I have not seen them and the owner tells me the pitch has to be adjusted. It might be something as simple as lube, but might be something more complicated. Is the pitch easy to adjust on these TT's??? What would it take???

The MK2's have a center detent in the pitch slider. When the slider is in the middle position it clicks into place and the green light comes on. Light on means the speed is quartz locked at 33.3 RPM or 45 RPM depending on the speed selection. The speed should not waver at all when it is quartz locked.

What does he mean in saying that the pitch needs adjusted?

There is a pot inside the table to adjust the pitch if it does not run correct at the detente.

I have one I'm working on now that is just plain goofie. Pitch jumps all over the place. I haven't been able to sort it out yet but I haven't dug too deep into it. Another I got, the first actually, ran wild. The platter speed would just keep climbing until you shut the power. I noticed that the indicator lights for both 33 and 45 were lit. So I tapped the 33 button and the 45 light went out. The platter jumped down to 33. Tapped the 45 light and the platter spun up to 45. I was never able to get both lights to light again. ????
