Thanks for your input. As far as I remember they were in the main power amp board. I'm if they were right before the relay. I don't have any tech works experience, I hired a technician to do the actual work. He's just not able or doesn't want to source parts. He thinks that Jamicons would do the job, but I disagree, that why I'm trying to source the necessary parts myself. How many in total did you have to replace in your amp? Which new caps did you use? How did it work out in the end?

I replaced every electrolytic cap in the amplifier. I don't recall the actual types, but they were a mix of quality Japanese caps based on recommendations from AK and what was readily available from the parts suppliers. The bad 470/63 was causing a loud 120Hz hum in the audio.
I rebuilt the amp 9 years ago, and use it every day.

I completely recapped mine in 2018.
I used all Nichicon UFG and one or two UKW.
It had a huge improvement. It DID clear up the sonics. Old caps were probably why it is dark.
I don't care for dark, mellow, laid back.

Or Panasonic.. still a source issue for you. Maybe get your tech to look at your online search. best to confirm ya?

I loved its' "darkish" sound. Even though it was a bit "dark" there was no loss of detail in middle and high frequency ranges. It even provided more detail than some "bright" amps I had before.

I did show it to him, but he said that "it's pointless and jamicons are fine caps"))).

Which Panasonic caps, in addition to the Nichicons you advised, would suit better for power supply path and which signal path in your opinion?

BOM is now shared. I don't think you'll be disappointed in the sonic difference after the recap.
You can always turn down the treble pot if you want less brightness.

Have you adjusted the center voltages and bias according to the service manual?

Thank you for sharing your experience. We are going to make all the adjustments after replacing caps and a couple of pre-amp transistors I mentioned above ( 2sa794-s and 2sa722). Thing is I'm not doing it myself, I hired a technician to do that, since I have zero knowledge, experience and necessary equipment.
I agree about the tone controls, but it'be nice to use it in direct mode, to utilize the DC amp advantages to the fullest.
I'm sorry for being stubborn.

I have a SU 8080 with a busted volume pot. It will rotate 360 with no min
/max stop. While rotating it rides over one raised area within the pot that doesn't feel right.
Could you confirm if the 8080 volume pot has detents/clicks as its rotated just like the Technics SA series of receivers?

Have you ever disassembled the volume pot?
I assume the only replacement is a donor 8080

That SA 700 is a monster receiver ! I have one as well with issue that I will soon get sorted out.
 
The volume pot looks fairly standard, 250kOhm, with loudness tap, most likely Log (audio) taper. You'll have to measure the footprint to be sure, but this might work.
The shaft is spline instead of D shape though.
