Yes, here's what ecluser is talking about.

It's very clear to me this is an optical illusion. There are only four outputs per heatsink/side.

Then where is that white line originating from ?

compared to the resistors visible - SanKen transistors are not that thick :)

If we coclude it's an illusion ..... the people modifying it, has a explanatory problem ... ( the 34Amp issue )

Hi SammyMac - we have apparently had a lot of fun here - trying to figure out things - and i, for one, really thought there where 8 transistors pr channel. That might have given some kind of reason to claim the 80Amp in the description from HDT -

And - maybe i need new stroner glasses, or more strong coffee, but i tricked my eyes into beliveing i could see all 8 transistors,

technically speaking, it seems strange they can force twice the current through the output transistors without them blowing up, so maybe the 80Amp description is both channels ?? I can tell

bottomline : if you feel you got value for the money (upgradewise) - that is fine, it was born as a 110wpc/8ohm - so 180wpc in 4 Ohm load is ok ....

The Amp rating on output transistors are listed as DC (continuous) in AC waveform these can momentarily well exceed DC current ratings.
 
Hmm, those look familiar....Wonder if they're the same family. Don't know about the difference in part numbers.

Yes i never had a successful thread as this... lol the heatsink and sankens are about the same colour so the pic looked like that to me also, had to look twice.
I dont know, if the 80Amp is for both channels, i dont know. I like the Sankens, japanese made xD. The price also included fixing up the tone board, had a nasty hit with postage...:thmbsp: hasnt that horrible thud sound anymore.

120w into 8ohm, maybe 180wpc in 4ohm, all i know i will not try it out, as my beloved Jensen speakers are rated at 150w :banana:

off topic, do you know of the Jensen capacitors, they are danish made. They would be great upgrades i was thinking if i wanted like 10000uf x cappies, someday :music::banana:

I know them - they do come in many flavours, and has quite good reputations , besides normal production line, they also do special orders - like in "if you can pay, we can make"

It's a old compagny - established in 1917

use them today for upgrades ? i really don't know, there are several really good brands.

Awesome they can do special orders. I was thinking, if the capacitors were 10000uf x4, woud mean more power >P

Mundorf is a good brand but isnt in the old school shape of caps

Infact the 2SA1494 / 2SC3858 are the sucessor of what you have in the V909, every spec, same gain same Current same Voltage same Power, i don't know why the numbers changed, may have to be due to a new Epitaxial Planar substrate, only SanKen could answer that in a hurry

Am i right in thinking these transistors will go up to 200W ?
