Technics SU-V8X

I have the original su-v8. Its a great amp however something to watch out for is the original Toshiba output transistors are unreliable in my experience. IMHO The original su-v8 sounds like a modern hifi stereo. Lacks abit of the more vintage *warm sound*. However It a solid amp and a keeper with plenty of watts to go around.
 
Hi, I just pulled the trigger on a working and good locking SU-V8X for a good price : I will post pictures as soon as I receive it (pictures that current owner sent me won't do any justice to the amplifier).
I was wondering how this amplifier would compete against TOTL of Pioneer of the same era ?
The obvious elephants are A-9, A-80... even against a A-71 (A-717 in japan domestic market and EU).
Did someone had the opportunity to hear them against some Technics V6X, V8X, V10X... ?
