Tekton Owners Thread

If you're referring to the pics I posted, I had nasty bass room boundary interference. The traps helped quite a bit the biggest difference was plugging the ports - night & day change. I don't know why. Added a large area rug w a pad & first reflection points are treated. Ceiling is almost all absorbent.
Its sounding very good. I shd take measurements but other projects are in the way right now.
I hear what you're saying about the hollow block - never occurred to me. Good point.
Depending on where you are in Cheeseland, maybe come by & listen sometime.

Nice!
Except for yet to ship Lores
My Infiniti’s and modded ESS AMT3’s are sealed bass boxes.
I’m not a fan of bass reflex.
But I audition a pair of the original Lores
With front porting and Audax tweet
And decided I wanted a set
Not because they sound better then what I have but they have their own unique sound that I like.
Currently, my speakers are in a wood floor room, but I’m moving to a different house. That’ll be carpeted
The Infiniti are going in the living room, the Tetons along with my ESS will go on the basement family room.
I live in Hudson right on the Minnesota Wisconsin border
Carpet bagger because of my small business and how the ordinances are in the Twin Cities
The nice thing about the affinities like your speakers is, they are tall and they project the sound evenly throughout the room.
That’s the nice thing about sealed bass boxes
placement isn’t critical.

Driving gear
Each system has a rogue, atlas 3 amp
The Infinties have the dark model.
Both systems have two Vanalstine tube preamps
Just across the border in Woodbury, Minnesota
My cell I’ll never go back to solid state these have enough power to drive anything
And especially with ribbons, there are no-brainer!

I have heard a Rogue Cronus Magnum integrated amp - Very nice piece.
Have not heard Audio by Van Alstine gear but it has a stellar reputation.

I'm curious if anyone here has exp with the double impacts and the lintons that seem to be the new internet darlings?

I ordered a pair of Uruz, and while I can’t wait for them to be completed and shipped, I’m also a bit concerned.
I ordered them online but wanted a custom color and another minor customization I wanted to discuss.
I finally reached Alexander (or Eric?).
We had two calls and discussed color and configuration, and he took and confirmed the order.
I gave him my CC information and asked for some sort of confirmation for the order.
I never saw a confirmation. I called again and reached Eric (or Alexander).
He confirmed the order and that the cabinets are being built as we speak. I asked him for a written confirmation as well — he mumbled something about “I’m doing this for XYZ years and would be out of business by now if…

I have not seen any confirmation in written form to this day, and on my account I don’t see any payment made to Tekton.
I’ve read of other folks with similar experience in other forums.
I’m just not used to doing business this way. It scares me a bit and seems also rather risky for thei business too — what if I say I never ordered them, or it’s not what I ordered?

I wanted to hear from other Tekton owners about their experience, what the process, billing, confirmation and timing was for them. That would instill back some confidence.
Thank you!!

My most recent Tekton order was in September 2024 for a Pendragon center channel speaker. Just checked and I got a confirmation email with a copy of the order details.

Eric can be less than helpful sometimes. Seems to depend on if he is having a good or bad day.

He can be grumpy and he is probably a control freak.
I am confident you will receive your speakers.
Speaker grills....not so sure!
Very small shop.

+1 on speaker grills. Never got mine after a 6-7 month wait and numerous communications, just told them to refund my money on grills. That was done in less than 24 hours. Tekton really needs to convert to magnetic grill attachments and move away from pin/cup attachments that require exact hole placement in both the speaker and grill.

At what point did you get that confirmation email? After you ordered or later, before they shipped it out?

Order was placed 9/11/24. Order confirmation with copy of order received 9/12/24. Owner's manual PDF received same day as order placed in a separate email.

My guess is responsiveness is highly dependent on who in on Tekton's staff at the time. Somebody named Alex sent me the order confirmation. Have you tried emailing sales@tektondesign.com ?

Thanks! Your experience differs from mine then. I’m still waiting for any sort of confirmation in written from, after weeks. I find that strange.
I mean, get it. Small company, more orders than hands, saving overhead cost… but I like to think that they have some sort of system where they list orders w/specs and such, specially when made to order (and with some basic customization options). How hard can it be to copy paste that in an email?

So now I may have to harass/call them again and to ask for a written confirmation, or at least to confirm that they’re making progress, and for an updated ETA.
It’s not helping them either when anxious clients keep calling them. I’m sure I’m not the only one.

Don’t blame you for being upset with Tekton. Eric can be a jackass sometimes.

Is the tweeter still the Fountek ribbon or some type of AMT?

Besides mentioned process issues, I’d be curious to hear if there are other Uruz owners and what their experience is with that model. If I’m not mistaken, it’s currently the only Tekton tower with a (single) folded ribbon/AMT tweeter (I’m not sure if it’s a Mumford or Fountek), versus their usual dome arrays.

What’s the sound signature in your setup? What do you drive them with? What’s your space like? How did you place them?

Thanks!

No answers to my emails at all.

Grumpy, bad day… I don’t know him, I don’t want to assume character traits or call him names. And if he was a control freak, he’d probably want to also be in control of the financial aspect of every deal to avoid reputational and financial risk.

Anyway, my intention is not to badmouth anyone. I’m just a bit puzzled and express my discomfort with that part of the process so far. I wanted to understand if I should alarmed and worried.
So far it does not sound like anybody here was pulled over the table or did not get what they ordered. It seems like they’re passionate and smart about their products, but, depending on the day, they may just not be in the mood for paperwork, and as a lean operation they don’t hire someone to do it for them. Maybe.
Either way, I don’t feel super comfortable about it. It’s a bit weird, or at least an unusual way to do business. But hey… I hope the product will make up for my mild anxiety.

FWIW, I did nearly all my business w Tekton over the phone. I did place the order thru their website to ensure there was "paper" copy. I really had to be a PIA to get grills but otherwise, things pretty much went as anticipated. I think they farm the grills out - maybe thats part of the difficulty w them. The waiting was never my favorite part of the process. Good luck.
