Hi!
I'm having some issues with my 8-track player. It plays just fine but the program switch (which just shorts to ground and is supposed to switch a coil and activates a mechanical switch to move the tape head into the next position) and lights to show which program is on stopped working all of a sudden.
I know this is an odd player but I really want to get it working again.

This is what I think I understand:
Blue wires:
both short to ground, either manual (blue wire in the top) or by foil splice in tape (blue wire attached to "switch" next to the tape head)
when either of this switches are activated they are supposed to activate the coil which magnetically pulls down a lever. the lever then gets caught by the white plastic cap on the idler wheel which in it's turn moves the second lever on the coil to move the white cap underneath the orange mound to move the tape head.
This also switches the lights in the front (orange plate with contacts N, 1, 2, 3, 4)
For some reason all this is not working and I can't figure out why. The amplifier board works just fine and the only two capacitors in the mains board are replaced.
I measured the "blue wire switches" to ground and they work aswell. The coil seems fine measuring 22ohm.
What am I missing?
Any help is appreciated!
Thanks a lot!
Alex
