A while ago I posted a WTB ad on Barter Town for a Dual AS-12 stacker spindle for 45s, for use with my 1219. The prices on eBay for the AS-12 are pretty high, usually $70-$80, and I was hoping that maybe I could get a slightly a better deal.
Lo and behold, I got a private message from JHS2RT, offering me an AS-12 at no charge, with the caveat being that it is complete... but totally disassembled. He was unable to successfully get it all back together!
The package arrived and I got to work. After degreasing the parts, the only clues I had about how to reassemble it (six parts plus the two outer shell halves) was a video that jancumps uploaded to YouTube... which still wasn't completely clear, but still very helpful. He also posted some images on AK: http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=544733
It took me a long time to figure out that, once the pieces are all put together and the shell is screwed together, you need to push the wings to get them to snap into proper alignment! Until that point, I couldn't figure out why it wouldn't work properly.
Along with the AS-12, JHS2RT also kindly sent me a perfectly functioning umbrella spindle for stacking LPs.
:tresbon:
So a big THANK YOU to JHS2RT for the accessories, and also a :thmbsp: to jancumps for providing the only info and visual reference available on the 'net on how to reassemble an AS-12!!
