I'm with you man, time to unplug the amp and lean the guitar against the wall, i'll never be that good. There is a young guitarist in our neighborhood that's apparently famous localy, plays folk. she stopped by last halloween and played my strat (I play on the porch each year), was pretty surprising, i'm amazed at how well the really young players can fret across a full-size guitar.

And that boy singing "Hey Jude" is hilarious. He really has good natural tone! And timing. He's got a good chance at being the front man for a serious band someday. :yes:

There's also Sungha Jung, who has been around for a few years with YT posted music. He's getting better as the years go on. Pretty darned good!

Me too, actually.:thmbsp: Although if you eat 2-3 meals a day like the Koreans, you can smell it coming out of the body's pores. Really. I've ridden in some crowded elevators/trains in Seoul and the smell of yesterday's Kimchi (particularly the loads of garlic therein) make for a pungent ride.

This is why I dropped out of music school after one semester. I love to play music but decided (correctly) that this was not the area where I could compete well. There's always someone better than you are and there is an aspect of musical talent that one is born with for sure.

There was a guy in my high school that could play most any instrument without even having to work at it. He'd just pick it up, noodle around with it, and then just play it like he'd had lessons for years. Hated him for that at the time. He went off to New York after high school, played in all sorts of bands, lived on the road and now lives in a trailer out back of Mama's house again. No retirement, no assets to speak of - but he can still play like a monster.

Wonder what those kids in the videos will end up doing?

I'm told that Danny Gatton had the same effect on a number of budding young guitarists in the DC area back when (rumor perhaps???). Reportedly, they'd see Danny's chops and decide to hang up their ax in favor of other ventures.

I'm not convinced that technical prowess is really the key to musical success. There are players who couldn't shred like some of those kids on YouTube, but who have developed a sound or style that is unique, and become successful with it.

Mind you, it doesn't hurt to be able to play a million notes a minute, I'm just saying...
