Saw The Shadows Of Knight back in '65 or '66 at a HS sock hop.
Thought it was about the time their version of Gloria had come out.
Just looked them up on Wikipedia,said they opened for the Byrds
at McCormick Place in Chicago in '65. Saw The Byrds there but i remember
The Cryin' Shames opening.
Oh well guess i lost a few brain cells over the years.
there was an earlier "gloria" from the DooWop era and very different from the 60s one. The Cadillacs , among otheres did it but I think the Cadillacs were 1st and best. It didn't go at all like the 60s Gloria. I agree the shadows version is the best and only one I've heard of the 60s version.
