The Black Glass And Blue Meters Are Gone

Maybe thats why I stock pile so much. Out of fear they may discontinue or change their looks dramatically.

Aesthetics mean alot to me, even though it is "All about the Music" you spend quite a bit of time looking at your gear. It needs to be easy on the eyes...

Kinda like a beautiful woman. :yes:
 
At least I don't have to rub Oil Of Ol' Age on the faces of my amps to keep them looking fresh and hot. :D
 
For me, the blue glass can be compared to the eyes of a beautiful woman. It draws me to the equipment and allows me to look deep into her soul and desire the purity and excitement of the music we can create together. McIntosh, like a good woman, is an entire package and invites you to spend a lifeftime of enjoyment, pleasure and satisfaction with it.
I know there is great equipment out there and I have owned some of it but, for me, McIntosh is where I am and where I will stay. I love reading about, listening to and looking at what is out there but I love coming home, even more, to a satisfaction that defies explanation. It feels great to be enjoying rather than always searching.

No offence. Good observation. Nice to know someone really take notice of my vintage system. I'm honored! :thmbsp:

First, the ML1C's I had were throughly checked and are in terrific shape (parts and all - especially the woofer, mids and highs, inclusive of the cabinet). As for the stand, its a 13 incher made locally by my carpenter (who also done up my daughters' room's wardrobe) and had them stained to match. Its serves 2 purposes, for ease of house/area cleaning (my wife now do not get angry at me for dust/cobweb buildup) as well as the sound travelling to my ear level when I sit to listen directly in front of it. :yes:

In Asia, we dont have bookshelf that size to accomodate speakers. More likey smaller ones like Wilson's Duette or the famous LS3/5a's kind size.

Hell, no... I think that's a beautiful amp... but I want a meter with numbers measuring watts! With McIntosh there is a big selection of components that are almost all first-rate and they all go together esthetically. If PASS has a whole set of components making up a system that matches... well, great. I love the look, feel, and nostalgic aspect of McIntosh... just my preference. I almost forgot the tremendous sound quality!

If McIntosh didn't have the black glass and the green logo ...I guess I can live with this look....but the blue meters are a must. :yes:

The look of Mac gear is definately great and my wife and kids luv the look.

Ultimately it is the musical performance that drives me. As good as the C2300 pre amp is - and it is good, the conrad johnson ART pre amp at 11 years old is just better musically.
I still use the c2300 as an additional MC or MM stage and the bass and treble on the fly adjustments via the ART tape outputs. works very well.

The glass and meters are definitely preferred, and I'd have to have them both without question in my main system. (you do get spoiled!). But there is not a thing wrong with some of the non-metered, non glass Mac amps...for example the MC2120, the MC2150, the MC2200, and the MC2250. These are excellent amps, still very attractive, and built like tanks. :yes:

I'd consider any of these in my secondary systems. (of course, two of my three secondary systems already have the glassy blue eyes. The jury's still out on the office system).

Really. I can't believe Vladimir Lamm would choose such a cord for his precious M1.2. Probably the same on his M2.1. Guess it must be that one lone tube where all the magic happens in this MOSFET amp.
 
Speaking of no black glass, no meters, black brushed aluminum, no aura, that Lamm M1.2 couldn't be more plain Jane. I know, the beauty is inside, ok, ok! Still......boring! :boring:
 
MC275V no meter's, no blue, but still too cool. Hope to have mine until death do I part.

I work in a wafer fabrication plant, There are so many machines that look like power amps that, I really do appreciate the fact that Mcintosh doesn't look like something that followed me home from work.
