The Black Glass And Blue Meters Are Gone

markc2......You are right. No lights, no meters, and still very cool. When I wrote the thread idea I wasn't even thinking of the MC275. What a sweet amp. Wish I had mine back, maybe even two of them.
 
Mc2120 love the sound. Not thrilled with looks. MA6100 love sound love looks. Next time I will have to spring for the glass front.
 
First, let me say that I'm glad I don't have to make this choice. I've been in love with the Mc-look (and sound) too many years. However, should some future owner decide to shake things up and change the look then I would then trade them against the other brands out there. So McIntosh, don't change the look and don't mess with the sound too much. I like not having to audition all the other brands before making a decision.
 
I would be disappointed to see the McIntosh black glass give way to some other material as the new McIntosh look. Actually, it took me a couple of years to warm up to the 3D glass panel change. I still don't care for how the 3D concept forces the power meters to be small on the MC252 and MC402, but I have become accustomed to the look, and now see it as McIntosh. After giving some thought to the thread responses here, and the photos of some Mac pieces without meters and lights, I believe I would remain brand loyal to McIntosh even if they chose a totally new look. I hope they don't, because I love the look and feel of things as they are now. What would definately cause me to begin auditioning other manufacuteres gear would be if there was some alteration of the McIntosh sound. That, above all else, is what keeps me in the camp.
 
I like the current style of black glass, blue meters and green. It would be a big mistake to change this look as it elegant and classic adding to the pride of ownership.
