Musichal, I am one of the people you refer to in your opening post regarding having a general disdain for country music - but thank you and to those who have contributed - I love the bluegrass genre and here in OZ it is hard to find so this thread has been great for finding old and new artists and hearing the different variants, it a very Americana musical style. Posting pics and vids is fantastic.

Rob :)

John Hartford in general and his album Aereo-Plain in particular.
From Wikipedia:
"John Hartford's groundbreaking bluegrass album released in 1971. The music on Aereo-Plain is a blend of traditional bluegrass musicianship, and the hippie spirit of the '70s. The album sold so poorly that Warner Bros. decided to devote no promotion at all to Hartford's next release Morning Bugle. Nevertheless, Aereo-Plain has been called the forerunner of the genre now known as "Newgrass".

This is just me and my guitar. I'm not a pro by any means, but I love Hank Williams, and I love bluegrass, so I love combining the two! I'd love to find a bluegrass group to hang with. I'd love to hear my singing and picking backed by a bluegrass group!

Edit: Ignore the ceiling! I need sheetrock put up. The old roof leaked, and a dude was supposed to put up new sheetrock when he did the roof. He bailed on me, so I put up blue insulation stuff in a pinch!

Well, yes. Particularly Bill Monroe and His Bluegrass Boys. Also fond of John Hartford, David Grisman and Sam Bush. Now for a little self-aggrandizement.
