Like the title says....lets see some audio related carnage. Burned boards, resistors, transistors, melted voice coils, etc.

I will start....

Speaker that made it thru a hurricane..

I can see some effed up screw heads in your future if you keep using that Kobalt screwdriver.

Unless I just got a bad one, that is.

The result of playing Black Sabbath too loud through an SX-3900.
Uhm..."ouch?" "You're lucky you didn't have a housefire?"

Was that set fixable or did it get written off? I feel silly even asking.

I've never happened to catch pictures, but:

1. My first encounter with a burnt and abused receiver was a Technics SA-410. The front panels buttons had been busted up, and there was a massively burnt resistor around the STK power pack. It might have been electrically fixable, if I knew more at the time.

2. I came downstairs one day to discover some ants on the face of my Optimus STA-795 receiver. I didn't think anything of it until I pulled the manual out from underneath it! I found a massive number of ants all over the manual, surrounding this gigantic white "thing" that they had made. I squashed all of them and cleaned the white thing up. To this day I have no idea what it was. It's never happened again.

3. I bought a Teac AG-790 receiver thinking that it could be fixed. One channel was out. Opened it up and found bad burn damage around several large resistors near the final transistors. Most of the resistors were brittle and ruined. Turned out there was a lot of circuit damage in the setup, so off to the recycler's it went after a few efforts were made to fix it! I probably do have pictures of that somewhere.

Sorry these aren't more interesting. If someone wants to start a thread on computer-related fires... :D

Me too, show that picture to your insurance agent... (bet he thinks so too).

Just kidding, sorry for your loss, and glad it didn't get out of control!

Bought this Pioneer SM-G205 off e-bay. One of the power resistors had overheated and ignited. Those 4 scorched wires go to the OPT. Luckily it survived.

Wished i had taken some pictures of my RT 909 before i started restoring it. Filth and damage abounded. The pre-amp board was cracked about 1/4 of the way across the board, long ways! So no wonder no sound in Rev Playback!

Not much else to show for yet. I tend to stay away from disaster pieces at this stage in my repairing life.
