There is no legal nor correct LED conversion for an H4, the filament is not in the right position nor omnidirectional so that the reflector and lens can work properly.
Hopefully you will not die in a head-on from a blinded driver, it can be pretty difficult to see the road sometimes when faced with these illegal and glaring “LED conversions” and it is a real risk.
Not trying to bust anyone’s chops, just that there are a LOT of really bad headlamp “conversions” out there and when you’re facing one on a 2-lane, especially in less than ideal conditions, it is a safety concern.
dont confuse headLAMP conversions with headlight BULB conversions. like 80% of the projected inc. light is reflected and the LEDs yes, cannot provide this from the housing, so they raise the color temp and lumens per watt and get the brightness, but its a 'blob' and not really aimable and definitely not long range. now led housings that are contained, sure, there are legal ones and many cars now come with them standard.
the 'high vs low' beams are a function of the filament projecting on the little 'bumps' on the inside of the glass (or - sadly - plastic) lenses.
that all being said, if your state has an annual safety inspection (mine does and I am still licensed to do them) headlight aim is a component of said inspection. In fact, our state has outlawed the 'suction cup' checkers cuz almost nothing will let them adhere today...we use projection checkers, but no one uses them. when I added state inspection to my engine shop, I got one used for like $300 (they were over $2K at first) and used it, but it became obvious, no one looked or cared. I had to have it serviceable and not covered in dust when the QAO dropped in for my annual or surprise quarterly) and when I closed the shop ,the guy I sold it to, parked it in a corner and it sits there today and HIS shop, he retired and sold and the new owners dont use it either...
other bulb positions are not so critical, the key was for brake lights (xx57 bulb spec) to add a bit of capacitance and a bleed resistor so they dont go instantaneously dark (think of the early caddy devilles or DHS using LED, it was unnerving.)
In fact, I do not think it is possible to buy a trailer, from lowes 5x8 up to big truck, where LEDs are not the spec from factory. (it also lets big truck drivers create the 'miracle truck' without a 60 amp draw on the battery - wild cowboy days in the 80s) my 2021 new keystone rv does not have an incy bulb within half a mile of it, inside OR out.
PS - it is near impossible to buy dash/interior light bulbs in DECENT incandescent anymore, and EVERYONE makes LED versions, pay attention to color temp AND it will change the dash tone, I think the new blueness will look good in my square (going under the dash knife in about a month)
