I was following a vintage twostroke Yamaha RD400 in this video,he was pretty surprised I was sticking with him lol.:D

Good video! I heard something scraping a couple of times. Did he also turn right a the stop sign and if so was he able to stick with you at that point?

Heh,yeah the old footboards on this land yacht scrape once in a while even though I've raised them up a notch. (3/4")
Picked up a couple ebay take off sets for replacements as they wear down.:D

No he turned around I guess,funny thing is I posted the vid on a local riders forum and he turned up there as a member,vintage twosmoke nut with the handle holypiston lol.
Those little RDs were quite the axe for a small bike,no slouch in their day and able to run with 750 fourstrokes.
Would probably smoke my big hog in the 1320 if she was stock but she's not.:tongue:

I guess that all depends on what you're looking for in a bike.

I remember when a 650cc was considered a BIG bike. My current bike has twice that displacement and is now considered a middle-weight LOL
 
Wonder if Buell shot themselves in the foot by discontinuing the Blast? I'm guessing (not sure) but that little thumper was their best selling bike.

When the market and economy is weak, and profit margins are slim, it's probably not the most intelligent business strategy to discontinue your best selling product because it's not "extreme" enough. It would be like Ford discontinuing the Taurus in favor of the Shelby Mustang.
 
Google "Shady Valley, Tn." and click on "Shady Valley Country Store". Some really nice riding around there. 489 turns within a 12 mile radius. I've scraped the V/H pipes on my 1200 Sportster a lot around that area. Used to have a Kaw. GPZ and ground the pegs on it a lot too. :D

Yeah, but some of us go the other direction. Sporty at 20, Dresser at 24, Buell at 50.
Still have 'em all but it's more fun riding solo :D
I would always get teased by riding buddies about my rigid...my reply was if I wanted comfort I would stay in bed. :smoke:
Agreed, the economy is HD's biggest nemesis.
I still seem to think more folks bought HD's and never really rode them, that saturated the market and HD got fat.
I may be completely wrong, just seems that way here in the land of milk and honey (Washington DC suburbs)

Oh there's a lot of truth there no doubt but I think when the economy gets back to normal H-D will march on just as they always have.
The doomsday sayers have just got it wrong IMHO.
As for going the other way,well I'd love to have a Buell as a second bike if I could afford one but there's no way I'm giving up my bagger for one.
I often wish I had kept the FXRS I had,Buell designed frame and H-D big twin
with Superglide styling,man that was a great bike.
I rode that one 125,000 miles and damn near cried when I sold it to pay off the bagger.

Oh, and I had a couple Sportys back in my younger days,even took a kick start iron XLCH out to 86'' with a T&O stroker crank and Axtell big bore kit.
She ran at 12.1 compression with Sifton cams and Baisley ported heads with bigger valves and an S&S Super B carb.
This was back when you could still get 100 octane leaded gas at the pump.:D

brocluno, I hear ya on the nice shiny low mileage bikes in the garage. I have an '04 fatty that has only 4800kms on her, and she is my baby. Nothing too good for her !!! lolol. I trailer it to my holiday destination every year and cruise. It was always my goal to own a Harley, and it is sad to see the state they are in. I hope they come through ok, because they are a beautiful ride. Love the thunder...lolol. Can't mistake that !!
