Hurricane season started in June.
Typically peaks in September. But can run into November.
El Niño is expected to generate 3-4 times more hurricanes this year.

The first one devastated Hawaii.
Second wasn't to bad, but lots of rain, wind and surf.
Third one will be passing us in a couple days.
There are already two others head this way.

 
Good morning. It’s 63°F going to 85. It’s also been a whirlwind of stuff for the past couple days and I think I missed logging in here.

I did the overnight camping trip to Medicine Lodge Archaeological Site in Wyoming Wednesday night. It;s sort of east of Basin, WY and not someplace you’d casually pass by. That said, it’s gorgeous with lots of rock art and great campsites. I also did some nice hiking.

I got back in time Thursday to go to an opening reception for a new exhibition at our contemporary art museum. It’s a photography show with multiple image shot at the same site over a year’s time. Very well done and is accompanied by a film and a talk by the artist.

Yesterday was all about errands and frustration. I ordered oil and a filter for my motorcycle and the oil showed up but the filter is delayed. I went to the dealer and they didn’t have one. I need to do a change before an upcoming trip (leaving Monday) so I guess I’ll change without a filter and then change again when I get back. The manual says to change the filter every other time and I’ve been religious about things since I got the bike and don’t think that the extra 2,000 miles on the old filter will have an lasting negative impact.

The cable company we use for the Internet sent me a thing about me getting a new modem but it never showed up. We’ve been having connection problems so we called and they said to bring the old one to their office and they’d swap it out. That, of course, is an adventure. The upside is the clerk asked if we were returning it to cancel and we said maybe and so he launched his retention thing and we ended up with the new modem and reduced billing for 20 months.

That was great but when I installed the new modem I had zero results in getting back on line. Long story short, the modem passed an IP address to my Dream Machine router but we couldn’t get out. I used AI to talk me through configuring and it eventually gave up and said to call the ISP. I did and talked to an AI bot who figured out the that modem needed to be “provisioned” from their end and they did. All is working fine now but there goes a few hours of life that I never get back. BTW, I LIKED the AI bot. It answered right away, no waiting for a human.

Today I am heading to Red Lodge, MT to run in the 10K annual race. I’ve done this almost every year for the past 20 or so. It’s lots of fun.

Good morning all! Momma is sore from climbing up and down the ladder yesterday while painting the guest bedroom. Good news is, it's done. We'll go shopping for materials for the chair rail in a day or two. The big box stores are towards the beach area and traffic is usually a nightmare in the summer, especially on a holiday weekend.

Good morning! Sunny with high thin clouds and lower 80s F for the walk, going to 96.
Skipped the monthly car meet yesterday - was 96 F, on the black top was probably hotter.
New CPAP mask made my nostrils sore after an hour - need to check the humidity settings on the machine.
World's Fair Zoom this morning is the only appointment on my calendar.

Good morning from the wilds of Wyoming, where there is plenty of beauty but you have to seek it out. I still remember my first drive through Wyoming up I25 to Casper. I looked out the window and their was nothing to see ,just scrub brush and lots off sand. Some rock formations got my interest and after I got settled in Casper we mostly hung and partied through the brutal winter that we used to get here. I might have waited a year to get my fishing license, I wasn't making much money ($800/month). But soon enough I was travelling to many of the wonderful fishing and camping areas. you need a reservation back then so we didn't have to plan, just go! So I've been around the state and understand why VinceinMT often crosses the border to enjoy the history and beautiful environment it is maintained in.

I don't if I'll do anything for the holiday, things haven't worked out between the gal I've been seeing, she wants more than I have to give and I don't think she will settle for anything less than all of me. She continues to try and forrce it upon me, that will lead to unhappiness for both of us. She suggested that I'm still in love with my exwife, which is at least partially true as we had a connection not all couples enjoy. I'm used to being alone but could change my mind. I've got three cat and they are easy to talk to, though messy and never help with the cleanup around this place. I don't need a complicated relationship at 69 years of age and sick every day, though I do get a day here and there that I almost feel normal.

By now you know more about me most, I need to talk about things to be able to somewhat sort them out. Zero energy today with another 90 degree day I'll most likely hide in the house, my allergies are terrible this time of year anyhow. Hope you all have a wonderful week, labor day is for play!
 
Postscript: Figured mower need new spark plug, air filter or both. Go to power equipment store, closed since yesterday noon until Tuesday :mad: On way home passing AutoZone, wth might as well try...off brand plug and filter but right ones :) Get home, decide to try her, and starts on first pull...aright! Apparently scared her into running! OK, air filter filthy, so change that, then mow about 1/2 - 2/3 of lawn. Figure I deserve a beer ...on way home from package store rain starts...right now pouring down like a cow pissing on a flat rock! Just in under the wire...whew!
 
Good morning. It’s 59°F going to the mid-80s. Today is about prepping for tomorrow’s departure to the Pacific Northwesy on a 10-day motorcycle camping adventure.

Yesterday I ran the 10K race in Red Lodge, MT and cam in1st in the 70+ age group with a time of 1:05:56. It was lots of fun.

Today, in preparation for tomorrow I’ll change the oil in my motorcycle and round up a few items to pack. Since I just went camping this past week I still have most everything together so it won’t take much effort. I’ll also go online and make some camping reservations for side trip I plan to do in Canada. I figure that the campgrounds I’ll stay at in the states will just be open since the holiday weekend will be over. I also need to look at making reservations for the ferry that goes from Port Angeles, WA to Victoria, BC.

64° F and mostly cloudy, high 68. Possible rain later. It's supposed to get down to 56 tonight! YAY!

Called it quits with the so called "girlfriend". She's blocked, persona nongrata (or however that's spelled, you get the point).

Not much going on today. I decided to ride the bus around the Cape today and enjoy the cooler temps and slight breeze.

Sometimes, it's those stupid little"duh" things that we overlook. 2014, '06 Kia Spectra wasn't running right. Spark plugs. Most of us always had changed them every 10,000 miles. Now that it's 100,000 miles, it's easy to forget.

So much so, that I couldn't find my spark plug gapping tool! Had to use needle-nose pliers and machinist feeler gauge :rolleyes: But then of course, didn't need...

Weather report, day started as drizzly, rained all night, 58°F/14°C then but

WHERE DID REST OF MY MESSAGE GO? :mad:

Anyway, now a few degrees higher and sunny! No concrete plans, keep safe all!
