The Lansing Heritage web site has been mostly down since Late Dec 2024??

Not sure when it went down. This banner below was in cache. Hopefully the upgrade is going smooth.

"Please note that vBulletin will be upgrading the forum software. This will install the latest stock version. The site is going to look different, as all custom pages and add ons will not import to the new version. Changes will need to be made after the upgrade. Thank you for your patience and understanding."

Yeah, I believe it survived the upgrade and was functioning smoothly, even with some missing functionality having been repaired. Then nothing. Just a timed-out message. :dunno:

Just popped back on, after a two-day absence.
Is now the time for individuals to archive the critical historic information stored there? :dunno:

I've not missed a day there and it has always been working for me these last several days.

Wouldn't connect for me. Timed-out message blamed the site's server.
Maybe not unusual over the holidays but there wasn't a single post over the last two-days.

I've not gotten ANY time out messages and I've been there a couple times each day. Widget posted on the eve of the 27th. Seems about right.

Try it now:

What happened?

The initial connection between Cloudflare's network and the origin web server timed out. As a result, the web page can not be displayed.

What can I do?

If you're a visitor of this website:

Please try again in a few minutes.

If you're the owner of this website:

Contact your hosting provider letting them know your web server is not completing requests. An Error 522 means that the request was able to connect to your web server, but that the request didn't finish. The most likely cause is that something on your server is hogging resources. Additional troubleshooting information here.

I have been unable to open the site for the last 3 days!
There was a brief moment today when I got on, but otherwise my experience has been the same as yours!
Hopefully someone here better connected to the site can give an update.

Working perfectly fine for me now, but was low to respond several minutes ago.

Maybe you guys need to clean out your cookies/cache?

Not trying to start an argument over my computer abilities (anyone would win that battIe) but attempting to alert the web folks at Audioheritage.org about an apparent problem. I doubt it has anything to do with my laptop when I get this kind of result from URL checks:

The Lansing site has been pretty low activity for the last 4 weeks or so - couple or so postings a day for a while.
I replied to you on the Lansing site yesterday, I think the Heritage site went down midday Friday Dec 27th, not sure why.

I got back in in late Sunday and everything seemed fine, tho it still showed "Powered by vBulletin® Version 4.2.5" (the OLD release number, so its not upgraded)
Today (Monday 30th) it actually loaded for me just now at the top level URL - https://www.audioheritage.org/ (with the picture of James B. Lansing)
But it loaded VERY SLOW ... and failed when I clicked his picture to go into the vBulletin Forum pages.

We've been expecting it to go offline for upgrades for a while now, but there were some patches to be applied before the actual upgrades occured.
I don't know for sure. but when I did web design for DoD, a couple times we did upgrades during the Christmas/New Year week since folks
were often away or traveling and the load was lower.
I don't KNOW why the site was down, but I gather Luther is on it.

Like Phil - this is what I see when I try to log onto the Lansing Forum -

Been taken care of LONG AGO - I know a couple folks have backups of the Static pages for the Library side of the site, and I'd gather the database is backed up as well.
Patience will get you by ...

The browsers I use (Chrome and Edge) have been having issues. I'm unsure if it's a problem with excessive user/bandwidth issues or a cyber-attack.

It sometimes takes me several attempts to log onto AK or other sites with which I usually have no problems.

This could also be related to the Holiday Season and Net overuse.

Probably a lot of people not at work due to the holidays,
and streaming or watching media they would not normally be here to enjoy.

But the Lansing Heritage issue is something else ...

And Kroger kept telling me there was something wrong with my phone because I kept getting an "error" warning every time I tried to log in. And with them, if you see a huge sign advertising red grapes for 99¢ a pound but neglect to scan the QR code in your app, they'll charge you $2.99 at checkout. They make you rely on the app. Even your "loyalty" card is no longer enough to get the "Weekly Digital" deals. So when I explained to them that out of all the bloated apps I have running just fine on my little iPhone 12 MINI, the only ones with this problem are theirs and . . . . Harris Teeter, which they own. They still say it's my phone. Now that it's fixed everything I buy at Kroger also shows up in my "history" in their Harris Teeter app, too! Which is infuriating when I see the same $5 item from Kroger showing up right next to the same item for $7 at H-T.

But somehow it's always my fault—until it just isn't. And let's not even start on Xfinity and their diagnosis of my cables not being connected properly . . .

Do you think it will ever accept new members? I believe I was a member years ago. Although I’ve found my AUB name in there, and various photos of mine, can’t seem to find any posts of mine.
