I don't have any finished pics yet, but it now runs a dl-160 and is on brass spikes. Only paid $80 for it. It would be hard to kill one of these!

I have a brand new SL-1210 M5G with AT-440mla cartridge. I really could use some advice:

I use the recommended 1.4 grams on both (although I am not using a fancy scale to perfectly dial it in).

I have the VTA at its lowest setting, with the cartridge set tail-down. It sounds fuller, with better bass, that way. I am using the 1/4" rubber mat, BTW.
 
I also have an SL-1210MkII (black version) that I got with a Stanton 500 cart and original packing. It has revived my Stanton 681EEE to the point that I purchased a second one.

It has matched well with almost any kind of cart I used. Ortofon MC10, MC15, MC20, MC25, FF15, Stanton 500, 680, 681, Shure V15IIIHE, even with original Technics carts (205, 207).

Unfortunatelly no current pics as the TT is packed ready for moving. I run with a very slim set currently and even LPs are getting packed in carton boxes.

SL-1200mk2 with AT440ml cart. When I get my stylus, I'm going to try an Ortofon VMS 20 E mkII cartridge. I tried a Grado Green and had a tough time with tracking, and could never get it to sound right.

How do you like the OC9 in that setup? Did you do anything special (ie. extra weights, damper, special anti-skate, VTF, VTA settings)? What phono pre are you using with the OC9? I'm really digging Audio Technica cartridges in general and have often considered the OC9.

The Benz Gold 20E2 is recommended highly for the 1210M5G among many others.
 
You can count me in. I really like my SL 1210 MK2 (black version) I bought new last October. Wonderful performer and have it matched up with an AT120E and am looking to try out my new AT440ML/0CC for comparison to the other carts I have.
 
soon I hope to (finally!) get an AT 150MLX and use it on my KAB modded MK5. when I get it I'll write a post about how it sounds. not sure if another KAB ownner has posted about this cart yet. I thought of an oc9 but have no step up.
 
My 1210m5g just arrived UPS last nite....up and running within 25 minutes including mounting the Denon DL-160.....

I have not really had the chance to evaluate critically and will mess around with various platform schemes I have used in the past...

The thing is a TANK, no question about it.......and incredibly simple to set up and operate.....

More to come as I listen....hope fully this afternoon:banana:
 
Count me in!!!

Proud owner here!! Bought it back in March 09, Technics SL-1200mk5 with a AT440MLa cart. Only mods done to the table are the 1/4 inch mat and the hinge kit. I don't see the need for any other mods to it, shes perfect just the way she is.
