Amazon.com still has some at $499 on up. Only problem with them is most stuff is through a 3rd party vendor. Prices fluctuate dramatically sometimes.

Yeah I saw it was still in stock when you posted the link but these things go fast when there is a bargain to be had.
 
Some vendors keep a watch on sites such as AK...

When something is "hot" like the 1200 and 1210 and there is a great deal of buzz around a product the vendors will begin to run out of present stock then raise the price for the next influx of orders. The tons of posts on AK in the last month or two about the 1200/10 models means backorders (like at PCNation) and subsequent raising of prices (as at PCNation).

We saw this phenomenon last summer when there were a gazillion posts about the Denon DL160.....and yes, I was one of many who continued to talk up the virtues of the Denon and the supply dried up and prices were in a state of flux.

I paid perhaps a tad too much for my 1210 last week but it is here now and set up and playing music and without the wait and worry as to what some vendor or third party (like the one mentioned early one in this thread that is about to go belly-up) was going to do to the pricing on the next run from Japan.

I had one on order from PCNation...but when they were out of stock I knew instinctively they would raise the price due to the onslaught of orders...so I looked elsewhere and caught one of the last five in stock somewhere else...

Yes, let's get a club started and/or keep the thread alive....I'm enjoying everyone's ideas regarding platforms, cartridges,etc.

What will be the next HOT item in audio? Maybe we could select something bizarre and have some fun with the suppliers!?:scratch2:

Simple economics....demand/supply, etc, etc,....then watch the price go up.

Thanks to whell A group was started and is filling up nicely. :thmbsp:

So grumpy as a moderator I would like to see what you think.

I also have a group and there are a few things I and the members cannot do that I wish AK would add to the options for the groups.
Like:
Let the person who started the group insert a group logo similar to what I have in my signature and the ability to share that logo with group members with the option to add it to their current signature and that (by inserting it it would not cause them to over the maximum allowed characters) as a point and click linkable logo also similar to mine...yeah I am pimping a bit sorry.

also allow smilies
and the ability to reply to a post like we can in the threads

that would make the groups a lot more fun

Pretty much the things I listed that cant be done in a group.

your signature is not shown
does not allow smilies
Cannot to reply with quote to a certain post like we can in the threads
i.e. will not show original quote
only paying AK subscribers can add pictures to the group pics from their albums
but they can insert them in the post from a url link like photo bucket

I dont mean to diss these ak groups but it seems like this thread is a better idea to me. More freedom and people have to keep posting to keep it alive. :yes:
 
Also remember anyone who want to be added to the list has to PM me. I dont have the time to filter through every post to see who wants in. All it takes is a friendly PM.

Still confused. Is this club just this thread, and whells group is an AK group set up under "Social Groups"?
