and yes, it sounded like a 1985 toyota camery with 4 12" subs booming at 1000 wpc, -without dynamats.

I just gotta come down and see this for myself!!!!!!

Yeah, if it's about volume and/or damage, just call Tom Danley, and have him bring over one of his sonic boom simulators. How about enough output to make the wall of a house flex in and out over SIX INCHES? He can do it. No combination of vintage receivers and/or speakers will ever do that...
Regards,
Gordon.
Fire It Up!
...so far the votes are in favor!!
Rob, I have no idea what you're smoking, but I'm going to jump in with three comments, and I apologize for being blunt.
1. The votes are running almost 2-to-1 against.
2. There is a very good reason why the total number of Yes votes is not zero: When some poor soul is standing on the railing of a bridge, about to commit suicide by jumping to his death, there is at least one person in the crowd screaming: "Jump!!!".
3. Don't listen to them.

But encouraging potential damage to many people, read trailer park in this inane activity, should be disallowed.
We will not allow any more of this.
Why?
AK is about karma, meaning respect and positive attitude. Building a foolishly large system, ignoring common sense and safety, and watching while it burns one's home down may sound like a lot of destructive fun to some people. We're not here to comment on that. But recall that the vintage gear being risked or actually destroyed is stuff that many of our members would dearly love to own. There are folk here who think of the Marantz 18 (the first oscilloscope receiver) as a historically significant item, and not something to be casually tossed on a heap of absurdity.
Please note, we're not saying that you can't deal with your gear any way you want to, but we are saying that too many members here really care about this old gear for AK to be an appropriate venue to destroy it for fun, or to risk it by inclusion in a project that can't possibly yield a positive result.
Finally,of course, AK absolutely does not endorse, or become involved in, any project that results in real fire hazard, injury, or other catastrophic result. The producers of "Jackass" have huge insurance policies. We don't.
Thanks for understanding.
