I'm starting to have this really sick idea... I've got a complete stereo laying around... :scratch2:

I know I should sell it and make some cash though.... :screwy:

That's some really cool stuff Holst.. I used to play around a lot with Bryce and Myst and a few others, but never got that good with it, and just wasn't as facinated with the time spent as to if you actually did it in models... I'd love to build models of that kinda stuff..

Holst, that's really cool stuff. :thmbsp: Hard to miss the Boston/Yes/Zeppelin influences, but you've definitely put a whole new flavor on it. :smoke: It'll be tough for anyone to beat similost's elephant though, that's just amazing. :ntwrthy:

I would love to go see the elephant and show.. I wonder if it's a yearly thing or what. Didn't get to read much on it, but I'll be reading up on it later. I found a lot of pictures from the festival and of the show on Flickr.. lots of really cool close-ups.. There are a lot of video's on youtube of it too..

Very true. Rodger Dean is too cool and I'll never be. Our High School art teacher thought I was better suited to industrial arts or cartoons and wouldn't let me in the class. I did do a year in a VoTec graphics arts class, but aside from one paying gig it's all just screwing around.

I got a second place ribbon in the art show at the country fair... I was the only entry.

It's in my living room now. It's off topic too... sorry.

While not true steampunk, these lamps evoke the same feel. Somewhat of a neo-industrial tech look. Reminds me of the movie Brazil.

Those lamps are cool as hell.. This thread is really getting me to want to try my hand at building something.. or modding something..

I am just jumping in on this thread and probably sticking my foot in my mouth. Steampunk has been out for a while and there are a lot of good examples out there and just as many more bad ones. I am not a true fan of the look as it seems to me to be more about the ornamentation of past technology without any real statement or function. Anyway here is a nice link for all you steampunk kids: http://www.steampunkmagazine.com/

*edit so I am a little late to the party with the link. Anyway here is my idea of steampunk:

I would love to build a triple expansion motor one day and have my own launch.
