I could bring that home from a garage sale for $15.00 and my wife would say " what the hell is that?" " I thought you said no more audio gear."

:lmao: So true! That truly is a thing of beauty though isn't it?

Think long and hard on this one. They are hard to fix, and some parts are very scarce. This could easily turn into a very expensive doorstop.

One could take the same $5K to VPI and come away with a table that would solidly trounce the venerable Kenwood, and have a long lifespan and readily available spare parts.

That is one turntable I lusted-over for a very long time.

I have however read comments by people who have owned many of the Ultra Japanese turntables, that the L-07D is a good unit, but out-done by some other of the Japanese Ultras.

That has tempered by enthusiasm for that unit slightly.I'd love to lay my hands on a Technics SP-10 mK 3,or a Pioneer P3a more than the L-07D(and it's not as if anyone can say that I don't appreciate all things Kenwood....).

You can acquire a Yamaha GT 2000 in Japan from HiFiDo for around 100,000 yen(which works-out to be way less than $5000).The rest could be spent on a Top-Notch isolation platform, with change to spare.

Heck,if I had $5000 US to spend,I'd get a GT 2000x or a Pioneer P3a or a Technics SP-10 Mk3 and an isolation platform. They're just as desirable as the L-07D and they are supposed to sound better. :scratch2:

5 grand is a lot of dough to be throwing around these days. I was thinking exactly what you were that I could get a Yamaha GT-2000 for less than that! But to the right person who has a Kenwood exotic statement setup from this time period- well he just might have to make an offer. The seller will have a hard time getting THAT much though.

This is the one I want: http://thevintageknob.org/DENON/DP100M/DP100M.html

The L-07D would go great with my L-09M/L-07C set. Can't say I'm willing to spend 5k or even the more usual 2k price for one.

Check out the storage space background in the pics. I bet this guy bought the contents of an abandoned space and is trying to make a SCORE.

yeah, same with my GF. Me: do you have any idea how much I could re sell this for if I decide not to keep it? Her: But why did you buy it, you have five other turntables.... Me: it was only $15 bucks, I could pass this one up at that price....... and so on.
