Kenwood L-07D - got a ton of cash?

:drool::drool::drool::drool::drool: Right up next to the Sony PS-X9 on my list of "I'll drool but probably never own one" TTs.
 
It always speaks volumes about a turntable,when another turntable manufacturer is a big fan,owner and user of it.

Especially when that turntable manufacturer makes a High-End brand named VPI. :smoke:

Mmmm, interesting.

Trio/Kenwood used Teflon as the thrust pad in their L-07D direct drive (one of which I own), and it seems to wear well, although it's certainly not everlasting and the magnetic levitation built into the motor eases the load on the thrust pad.

Harry Weisfeld of VPI speaks very highly of the L-07D and its bearing (he said the bearing and the motor as a whole are very quiet indeed), but told me he had to replace the thrust pad some time ago (though it had seen at least a couple of deacdes' use AFAIK).
