Whew, for a moment i thought it was just me. Now I'm sane again, i thank you!

Monster Cable solved the RCA issue back in the very early 70's. THey had split cnter pins you could adjust, barrels that would dig into the sleeves of jacks and they were gold plated. I bought 150 of them total in red, blue and yellow green and black...When I stoped using base band and component video . I re-colored the connects to all being Black and red. I bought a few RCA's from PArts Express and Blue JEans, but they aren't near as good as the Monster Cable RCA plugs and jacks be they in line or chassis. .

. What irks me. The change of formats. LP's,Quad LP's, 4 track, 8-track carts, 2 track reel to reel then 4 track, then dolby reel to reel. Then Beta Hifi and cassette, and then Dolby S, El Cassette, and what ever else they could think up. DIGITAL, CD, SACD, DVD-A, then streaming, and what ever else. Then they throw in HT starting with Dolby analog and then Dolby digital, and on and on and on.
Then there are the mass of people that the music producers seem to want to follow as they change their whims. But is it the mass of buyers or the producers forcing the change?. The peoples choices is what gives the rest of us so many head aches., Lets face it I am into romantic classical, be it Symphonies or Brass wind bands or Marching Bands or concert bands. I also like Big band and Swing band. Glen Miller. Dixieland, early jazz and Ragtime are fun, too. There are more likes and a whole bunch of dislikes. But I will quit now. Whew!

both of these components are relatively inexpensive and easily replaced, (although capacitors take much more work). Just about anybody can replace them and those who do will inevitably experience audio nirvana and enthusiastically announce their imagined improvements in audio forums...

Alas, it's still one that many of us can relate to....I have a less than ideal room...yeah yeah...first world problem...
I had to laugh at so-called 'do nothing' machines. These were incredibly complex mechanical devices with many moving parts, and the machines did absolutely nothing at all.

The highs are when you realize your system sounds absolutely mesmerizing.
The lows are two hours later, when you find yourself searching the inter webs for a tweak that will make it “even better”.

That the better the music is, he worse the recording, and vice versa.

When I've just cued up one of my favourite tracks, cranked the volume up a bit, settled into my chair to listen... and my partner comes downstairs to hang out. I mean, I love her, and I'm blessed to have a partner who doesn't care how much I spend or how many pairs of speakers I own, but that's like interrupting someone meditating or reading a book.

You're bitchin' because your SO wanted to share some audio bliss? We all should be so unlucky.
When we moved into our first home and the wife insisted the home built speakers could not exist in the living room. Well, I went out and bought some new speakers, installed them in the living room........ the wife insisted that the speaker s belonged right up against the wall.
