The Ultimate Speaker Wire/ Power Cord :)

I found the ultimate speaker wire and or power cord today at a work site.

This is the largest cable that I have EVER seen in person. It´s 4x 185mm². Since it has 4 cores you can combine 2 and you´ll have 370mm² :) I´m too lazy to convert mm² to the silly AWG size, but it´s B I G :)

Nice
The stuff I work with often is 3 conductor of the same size.
LSTSGU-400 and sometimes 500.

Whats the copper-to-meth conversion on that bad boy...?

Ben
Hah! Too funny. I moved from the mountains three years ago. The hills were full of meth and honey oil labs. The tweekers would pull out the big copper phone lines from time to time. One year when they did this, the phone company had to replace them three times. Just a few days after each replacement, they would dig it up and cut it out again at the same spot. Even the contractors in the area had to guard whatever metal or scrap piles they had. It got to be routine for the fire department to put out honey oil and meth lab fires.

I think the signal would get lost somewhere in that cable and never make it out the other end. :D

185mm^2 is exactly 350MCM. 370mm^2 would be almost 750MCM.

A little heavy to do a star-quad braiding...

With a lot of surface area between adjacent conductors, capacitance might be high. If the conductors aren't close together, inductance might be high.
Got a manufacturer's catalog number?

In the last 18-months had one vacant warehouse (was in process of moving out of) and a vacant house (was waiting on auction) get stripped of the copper... Thieving scum!

Ben

They steal whole air conditioning units right off the slab around here.

The vacant house that got stripped had this happen to the outside AC unit also.. .but they didn't take the whole thing.
They actually took the time, at the crime scene, to carefully remove ONLY the coil and wires with copper.

Ben

What are the individual bundles surround with? It looks like aluminium, but I assume it's some sort of nonconductive material.

I see cables like that on a regular basis at the semi-conductor plant I work at. When they decommission a TOOL they sometimes throw away bundles of wire. Unfortunately they don't let anyone have it. They have it all taken to a recycler. I hear they can make around a million dollars a year on all their recycled items.

I just want to know if it is continuous cast, directional and oxygen free! Oh yeah, what does the shipping cost?
