the unofficial Record Store Day 2019 thread: Saturday April 13

Here in Greensboro NC there are a few record shops.. My favorite is Hippo Records. The weather here today is completely nasty with lots of rain coming and going, so no long lines here. I stopped in and left with a healthy stack. Some old MFSL and other cool stuff. They were shooting an interview when I walked in. Several people came in while I was browsing, and it was filling up fast. Everyone seemed to be in a good mood and very courteous. There were plenty of people purchasing. I enjoyed my trip out on "record store day". I did drive by another record store that I do not support, and it was about the same there.. slow start and filled up fast.

Love that store. We use to live in NC and were back this winter visiting and I went there. Only store I have seen with a ton of Mobile Fidelity and Japanese pressings.

Mt first time actually going out for RSD, I had some good company and it made all the difference as it is as much a social/discussion sort of thing as a buying experience. I picked up a Captain Braveheart, a Jazz Butcher, a nice copy of what we always used to call "Tubular Balls" and a couple of Vaughn Williams LPs. Came home and we listened to my system for a couple of hours. Most satisfying...

Well it's RSD down here already. I just went to support my local guy, which I think was the main reason for starting the whole deal in the first place. No special editions required.

Owner Neil doesn't get in special editions anyway, as when he bought the store a couple of years back there was a heap of overpriced unsold RSD stock.

He did welcome the extra trade though. :)

+1 for the Jerry Harrison

Went to my favorite RS, Euclid Records in Webster, and had a nice time. Had a complimentary local micro brew, listened to three local bands, found a few used records in NM condition to fill some holes in the collection.

Lots of people out, both young and old. Cool vibe as always. Great to be out there.

Nice! How are those? I thought the Mac looked interesting, but I was buying enough. I had to pass up a bunch of stuff.

The Van Morison sounds really really really great!!! Awesome cutting and pressing.

Fleetwood mac is interesting, But I think they made the right choice with the cuts they chose for the official release. However if your a big fan it is a must have.

My haul from this morning...

Super excited about Hallowed Ground being a AAA cut. I was sort of worried I wouldn't get Some Friendly and I think it was the last one. The Devo box was sort of an impulse buy.

Visited three local "chain" stores yesterday on RCD. Seen some nice records but not much I really wanted.
Found two at the first store I visited .. nice additions to the collection.

Legacy Quiex II pressing of Christie McVie solo album (same price as regular issue copies).

2014 "still sealed" but marked/priced as used pressing of Tommy by the Who.

Its fun. I see the same folks every year while we wait in line. We all like the same things in life. Its like being on audiokarma but without all the typing/uploading/searching. The records are just part of the experience.

Never been to a RSD, and the record stores near me, don't sell new records, so they wouldn't have anything on the list.

Well, I managed to oversleep yesterday. I found the Devo box, the B52s and Robyn records and the Wipers 7" online this morning. Flippers are doing their best to ensure I never see the Green River album.
