I recently bought myself a Christmas present TO REPLACE MY x-100-b. A fisher x-202-b in fantastic shape, no tubes but I had a set of 7591’s from a lowery DSO-1 (don’t murder me please).
I decided a full rebuild was in order. I ordered my Russian pio caps, smaller value caps were replaced with film. I did the 100ohm screen resistor addition and the 330ohm to 220ohm grid resistor and .1uf coupling caps. Installed individual 10 ohm cathode resistors for easier bias adjustments. The jewels were missing from the front so I decide to make a custom LED setup.
After some hickups I finally got it up and running and all I can say is WOW! It sounds absolutely incredible. The highs are high. The lows are low. I can hear things in songs I’ve never heard before. The phase reverse is a game changer. It has way more power than it has a right to I don’t see turning it past 50%. I would highly recommend if you’re thinking about buying one!
