I saw the post a few minutes after it went up and immediately responded indicating that I knew of the speakers. I got a call from the owner's husband later that day. We talked and I told him I could come get them and made arrangements to borrow my neighbor's F-250. Confirming the truck was available the deal was done. I was told they work but need cosmetic tlc.
The couple is moving and she has a newer system and these speakers had been at her ex's house for 5 years. Her newer system is a very nice. Krell CD/pre/power/speakers and a Linn. I picked the Beveridges up during the day and did not meet her but I know she likes nice sounding gear.
I alluded to the pickup in the General thread about any tube scores. I mentioned I picked up some tube amps with a couple pics in Tube and I started a thread in the Tube Forum about these amps and speakers which where I will continue to discuss these speakers.
I must say AK has really come out to help me with these speakers. Ohighway sent me three tubes, one NOS, that the amps use, 36KD6 or 40KD6 as one of them looked damaged in the pic that was posted. The tubes arrived today. Gadget73 stopped by today to test the tubes. I have a couple quad that will work fine in the amps. Grainger, a long-time electrostatic owner has been helpful discussing these speakers and looking at a schematic I received through an asylum post about the Beveridge speakers that was started recently, but not by me.
The veneer is rough/missing in places and many pictures of the speakers show some missing, but that is not a sound issue and something that is a long way from the top of the list on these speakers/amps.
So far I have repainted the amp base but not the amp itself and have started cleaning the circuit boards. I have also taken one of the speakers apart to the point that I know I need to pull all 6 e-stat elements to clean the front of the panel to remove the foam grille pieces that fell into them.
