I figured you might hear some differences with the new separates but I'm surprised you're hearing such a vast improvement.
I read somewhere that the MC152 puts out easily more than 200 wpc, so McIntosh may have understated the rating so as not to compete directly with their 200 wpc rated integrates. Oddly, the MC152 weighs 10 lbs more than my MC202 (200wpc). Gotta wonder where the extra weight is in the 152.

Nowadays, technology is moving at a lightning speed. Eventually any preamp or integrated amp without digital input will be less appeal.
As you can see McIntosh is starting to include digital inputs in their new products. But the number of digital inputs are still less than the analog inputs.
McIntosh! Let move.

C52 and C47 have 2-Coax, 3-optical, 1-USB 2.0/3.0, and one MCT secure SACD/CD transport connection. All can be used and named for the exact device connected. No other high end preamps will have this many digital inputs along with twin phono, MC-MM phono stages and many balanced and unbalanced analog inputs.
Unlike previous preamp models all inputs may be used, not just 7 or 8 selections.

Agree about preamp. Just the integrated amp, the digital input is limited, especially the optical input.
I always need 3 optical inputs but the basic model offer only one and the higher end offer 2

I wasn't a big believer in the 152/301's without the knobs but I gotta say I'm eating crow. Luv the looks and I can actually lift it without any help. The only thing I miss is a "peak hold" for the meters....other than that....I'm a happy camper! 
Now I wonder if I should've gotten the 301's... Next stop....a C48/47 .....using my MDA1K as a pre right now.
btw......it sounds great!....smooth highs,excellent mids and the low end is perfect.

After a few days of listening to my new combo i have to say, i'm very happy with my new ones!!!
The DAC in the C47 is better than in my previous one (D150) and the MC152 has a little bit more power than my MC6600!

Are you sure? You may want to upgrade your MC very soon $$$$$

Sony protects the SACD digital data stream so it will not pass over normal coax and optical connections. This SACD signal which is DSD64 or 64 X 44.1 but in a bitstream can be passed from a transport to a DAC if there is a secure connection. The new C52 and C47 as well as the Wadia DI322 all have this connection. The MCT450 comes with the custom cable to make this connection. It is 5 feet long and will pass any disc CD or SACD digital signal between the MCT450 and the C47 so the high speed DAC in the C47 will decode the signal to analog. The DAC in the C47 will decode up to DSD 256 and any PCM rate.
Since MCT450 does not have any internal digital decoding you save some cost as well as having the purest playback.
