This might not end well (but might have considerable entertainment value?)...

Well since this guy supposedly bought this car like 2 months ago he should have already driven it by now, so he's either learned something or is dead.

Most-likely the latter.

Methinks he's very likely gotten distracted with his other toys, and he also travels a lot. I have no idea if he's even started it up since he got it.

And my friend who would probably be the one to steer the guy in a direction to where he probably wouldn't kill himself, is himself incapacitated now (broken foot, several months recovery time). So, it's all the better, if the guy is just not thinking about it now.

Maybe it will be a spring project...

Regards,
Gordon.

One thing that may make him think is the cost. A car like this is very , very expensive. You need crew who know the car, just to safely set up, rear tires are around 1K each and you only get 5,6,7 passes then new ones. I don't know how many passes on motor before rebuild same for tranny and dif. The cost of bringing up to spec just to get on track. I doubt any track would let him on with NO experience.

sounds like the perfect excuse to pull the crazy engine and drop in some mid 70s low compression smog turd 454 as a practice engine. Much harder to hurt yourself with a lump that makes 250 hp on a good day. Need to figure out a way to mount a radiator though, even a turd won't live long with no cooling system.

I am still thinking, just find some LS out of a junkyard truck. That's the cheap, sensible move, in this day and age.

Put it in there stock at first. Then, later, as he gets some runs in, take it apart, open up the ring gaps, and throw a cheap turbo setup on it with some oversized injectors and run it on E85. Can easily get 700HP or more out of that. Then, the next step would be a cam, manifold setup, forged pistons and rods, and a better turbo setup- that could get him up to close to 1200HP.

If he's still feeling frisky after that, THEN he can start thinking about returning the original monster engine in it.

Gordon.

I was thinking 454 since thats whats there now. Transmission and engine mounts are in the right spot already, no fab work required to drop in the same block, which means no un-doing fab work to put the original back in. Also means you don't have to change the transmission.
