Well, I am liking the Shure M97xE...Going to let the records play this weekend. Someone said M97xE needs around 15 -20 hrs. to start breaking-in.
I will say right now...Sumiko Black Pearl is not worth the $$'s. Good thing this
was on the TD-145 when I purchased it. I will pickup a New BP Styus Manf. ($35). I will be unloading a Dual 741Q and will put it on that unit and take off the M91ED.
So my ?...Should the Dynamic Stabilizer be used?

Hi Joe. I have a 145 that I bought in the mid 80's in a Hoboken thrift shop that I spotted in the window on my way to buy a turntable in NYC. I think I paid 35. for it. It has served me well over the years. One question, and this may be stupid but, does yours have a grounding wire? Mine doesn't and I always wondered if it had been ripped of or who knows what.

G'day all, on the M97xE 'dynamic stabiliser', I normally don't use mine unless the reciord being played has bad warp issues. If not using the 'dynamic stabiliser' I use my M97xE's at 1.25 grams tracking weight.
If I use the 'dynamic stabiliser', I add half a gram of tracking weight from the counterweight. Sometimes the 'dynamic stabilser' is useful if the cartridge is a bad match for the tonearm, but generally try the M97xE at 1.25 grams without the 'dynamic stabilser' in use first. It should be fine. No question that the M97xE is "the" budget cartridge to own, at under $60 from Amazon. It is quite the deal.
The answer to you stabilizer question is: let your ears be your guide. Try with and without and see what you think. Don't forget to reset the tracking weight between the up and down positions. I always use as I find no difference in sonics and think the additional cleaning of the brush is a good thing.
