In a pinch you could just use bluetack and tape or something to secure an appropriate weight on the end. I can't remember the mass off the top of my head, but I'm sure that information exists out there somewhere :)
 
A buddy of mine had a TD-160 with a missing aux counter weight also. I took the one off my TD-125 MKII and was able to match up an appropriate bolt at my local hardware store. If you are interested, I'll go through my turntable notes and see if I wrote down the measurements.

Unfortunately, I've been through my notes and haven't been able to find the size of that replacement bolt. If I think of another place to look, I will. I may have made a thread about it here at AK but my luck in using the AK search hasn't been very good.

I've done a preliminary search of the web to find the mass of the aux counterweight to no avail. I'll keep digging. I did order one from Vintage Thorens though. Was hoping to get something fairly equivalent while I wait for it to arrive, though.
 
From the pics you can see that the wood is pretty scratched up in places. Suggestions for beautifying the plinth on this one?IMG_0469.jpg
 
If you're careful, you could try to lightly steam out the scratches, then use a little Howard Restor-A-Finish and some steel wool. The TD160 plinth/base is usually teak so the RAF Teak or neutral is probably the way to go.

Here's info on how to do it on speaker boxes, same method here but obviously a little more difficult given the plinth is connected to the TT mechanism. Probably suggest doing it with the plith just off the edge of a tile or granite countertop, and the moist towel and iron held vertically.
