Thorens TD 165 running slow

Are you absolutely sure the belt is the real deal? The Thorens belt I bought actually has the Thorens logo on it.

I was wondering the same thing, as my 126 belt also has the Thorens logo on it. I purchased from LPgear as I thought they are a legit operation (hopefully) selling legit belts? Here’s the link:

It's a replacement. Anyone's guess is as good as the next guy's. Why don't you swap to the belt from the 126 and give it a shot?

33.3 ON THE DOT! I had just assumed the 126 belt wasn’t compatible with the 165 - I assumed wrong! Thanks for this simple suggestion! I am thrilled as I was actually losing my mind trying to figure this out, but now I’m also pissed that LP Gear would be selling bunk aftermarket belts that don’t keep speed? I can’t remember where I got my “real” 126 belt from - anyone have a good source for REAL belts?

I used to get mine from Thakker Germany until I learned Q-Audio, literally in my back yard, got the real deal too.

Thank god @gadget73 inquired about that belt you mentioned to be a "genuine Thorens belt". It should had been the first question asked...

Yes thanks to @gadget73 too! I KNOW that a real belt is crucial for speed on these tables - which is why tried to buy from a “real” reputable place. I thought maybe not all real belts have a Thorens logo on them - I learned the hard way! Needless to say this crap belt is going back to LPgear STAT.

good deal. I finally bought a proper belt for mine for the same reason. The generic wasn't running at exactly the right speed.

Pulley clutch slipping slightly ?

There is no clutch in this table. See the top of the pulley, just the motor spindle.

Gadget nailed it. I didn't see the Thorens name on the LPGear generic belt and none of them run the right speed. Glad you got this sorted. You can use the cheap belt on the 126 since it has speed adjust the 165 does not and requires the correct belt.
