Those Sansui SR-838 replacement feet. Finally did it.

AK rules don't prohibit one from mentioning a business or even pointing to their website... so long as it is not your business.

AK rules prohibit pointing to auction or sale-by-owner sites like Craigslist or FB Marketplace... except in the Dollars and Sense forum.

So, it is ok to say "I got them at Fancy TT Feet" or similar... so long as that business isn't you.

Because I'm replacing the RCA cables on my SR-838 I was reminded of yet another hack job the seller did on the original feet. I recall him saying that he'd "painstakingly" leveled the feet. Last time I had the bottom cover off I found wads of electrical tape holding those rubber boots and and springs together. Executed with the same skill level he used to "recap" it and "upgrade" the RCA cables.

I've ordered a set of these MNPCTECH feet to go with the new cables which are already enroute. The time, effort, and money I have into the 838 far exceeds that which I have into any other Sansui piece in my collection by a longshot.

Those look good. And a tulip style that should fit on the tapered jacks on the older tube Sansui gear, if and when you start down that road.

Dumb question - how do you know when your 838 'foot /or feet' are broken?

Mine see ok, sure not going to put them through the torture test. "If it ain't broke - don't fix it."

Mine are functional as they are and I haven't had any leveling or resonance issues with my 838. But the last time I had them off they were really cobbled together with several washers and electrical tape. I recall spending quite a bit of time re-cobbling them together when I put the bottom cover back on. Since I'm going back in to replace the RCA cables I wondered if there was a solution for the feet lying around here somewhere, and here we are!
 
There’s also a seller on eBay that sells 3-D printed feet with four springs in each foot. They’re much cheaper than the nice metal ones but not sure how they would work out. Or how they would look. I will say I assume they are 3-D printed.

The rubber around the springs on the feet gets hard or disintegrate overtime. It’s pretty easy to pull the feet off and check them. Mine still worked.

I've just seen these as well. The MNPCTECH feet have arrived already so I'm committed. They're nicely made. I've noticed the original SR-838 feet do have a lot spring and suspension built into them. The MNPCTECH feet are quite rigid. I'm hoping that doesn't change the dynamics in my setup too much if at all.

I’ve often suspected the springs amplify the floor movement into my SR-838. My listening room is on the second floor and in the middle of a long joist span. 210 pounds of me walking across the room transfers movement straight to the rack. I need to try the rigid MNPCTECH feet. Plus they look so gorgeous! Worthy of the SR-838.

Did you get black or silver?

Silver. My preference would've been black but those were sold out. The silver will certainly be fine, regardless. Hoping to get to it tonight, but no RCA cables yet although they are "out for delivery."

I've been mostly lucky in my main room setup and not had any trouble with foot falls, vibrations, and turntable sensitivity. Everything has been stable and quiet thus far. Lately, however, the main room XP-99 has been acting up, howling and resonating, at volume hooked up to the D907X and X701. I've experimented with a few different cartridges, but I think it's sensitivity to speaker position. I don't have the same issue with the SR-717/999 or SR-838/11000 BA-2000 combos, nor do I have the issue with the XP-99 in the shop setup. All part of the fun!

Guess my 838 feet are working fine as well - no known issues. :music:

I'll check them someday when I have to 'move' stuff.

Just finished my new RCA and feet install. I must've got the last set. Buttoning up and setting up the tonearm, headshell/cart, etc. New thread with pics a little later once I confirm everything is operational and back in order.
 
Fast response time from those guys! Black and silver back in stock now. I don’t think one can go wrong with either choice - compliment the platter or compliment the plinth!

Excellent news. Highly recommend. Very easy install, great fit. Table is dead level. Low profile. I'm happy with the silver. Perfect accent to the badge, platter and tonearm.
