Hi GuscreekMT. I also watched them for a week or more. They were only a few miles from me but I decided that I'm happy with my current equipment and having just retired thought I should leave them alone. Glad you are enjoying.

I can't believe you left them alone but thanks! These babies will be singing "In my time of dying" by Led Zep at my ash dispersal! I still marvel that the previous owner did not even listen to them in his shop area.
 
Thanks DK! I take it the ambiance tweeters are along the back diagonal section of the sock? I'm trying to revive a thread from reverb who spoke of folks interested in the serial numbers to establish a number of pairs made but no luck. Anything you know about? And yes great. It is difficult to not sound like a ass crowing about these but I mean wow! And yes still a tube tv, like the picture and the fact my screen isn't 1/4 black bar. Again thanks to a great group in the forum, very welcoming and gracious!
 
Tremendous score, and it sounds like they may have found their forever home.

Give them clean watts, and something that won't destroy them. Be patient, and the reward will be worth it.

XRT20 McIntosh's are my daily drivers, but I am just a tad jealous. Once rebuilt and owned some TF-350's, and they were special.

I thought very hard but decided I already had speakers that I love. I've decided I don't want to own too many speakers. Sure hope you get a lot of enjoyment with them.

The Timeframe 2000s do not employ any "ambience" tweeters. There are two woofers, two mid ranges and one tweeter per speaker and they are mirror imaged. The drivers go on the inside edge closer to each other as opposed to the outside edge.

Thanks for straightening that tweeter issue out. I have seen several references to that in older threads. I know my 400s have them. To anyone in general is there a consensus as to why these did not go into production? I would have gladly put another zero in my payment after listening to these at home.

Thanks James! As I have stated elsewhere I am open to suggestions for amps and interconnects. Even my modest R-S700 lets these babies play loud and clear. Just listened to "Welcome to the machine". Out of track two into track three the low frequency industrial rumbling is room shaking even at conversational (almost :)) level. Subwoofers need not apply!
 
I still sometimes feel a tinge of regret for having let my pair go but then I did make a nice tidy profit for my trouble. I've gathered from what little info that is out there that they were well received when they were new but not so well sold. They were quite expensive for the time. My pair were in the mid 400s serial number. The biggest reason for letting them go was that I was moving into the low-watt tube amp and efficient speakers realm.

All the SN's I see in threads are 400's. Is it known what they started at? Also like the quote. Ever read "A Confederacy of Dunces"?
 
Congratulations on the score and welcome to AK. 600's and 400's here and though they are put up right now I can't bring myself to move them along.
 
Well done! I was the lucky recipient of TF1000s from @N8Nagel Such a great sound stage and voicing! I’ve used Mcintosh amps and a 1900 receiver with mine. 50 watts to 200. Smooth as silk.

I did have to install binding posts and replace the under layment and sock. Enjoy!
 
Not sure how I missed this! I search for new tf2000 discussions now and again to see if any pop up.

You still have them?

I run mine with a carver tfm-35 and it's plenty.
