a few thermals after 4 days of uptime.

preamp on its side to measure bottom plate (schematic side, note the wrinkles). hottest spot most likely a power resistor for the mute circuit.
in all of these shots the mute function is off (normal audio operation). no inputs and outputs connected, volume at lowest position. a few more days of uptime and this revised repair should be confirmed complete. the only potential loose end might be the original +/- voltage regulators, only time will tell.
and now to finish up a sansui 8080 and its naturally problematic am/fm section (tuner board f-2549 full of carbon comp resistors, plus f-1519 front-end pack). what a nightmare..

not to mention multiple 1n60 germanium diodes to remove.
