I think you are correct sir. And I also think I read they were bought by BMG in 1994, which in turn was bought by Universal Music in 2007, though are still operated as an independent company.

This is a superb recording, even if this lp is mono. Cooke was apparently releasing stereo recordings as early as 1952, though it was a different format than what became standard (disks had 2 parallel grooves, and required 2 styli). In addition, the disk is pretty cool. To think I might have passed on this but for the fact I saw it said recorded at Symphony Hall, Boston, where the organ has 32' pipes.

I am enjoying these Hyperion LP's a lot lately...The Dowland LP has some very interesting notes about how well regarded the ability to be "Extemporaneous" (good improvisors) was...and about the rules for that.
