I recommend the whole concert, one of the worlds great string virtuosos ...good sound turn up to HD....unbelievable style.

Thank you for posting this. It's obvious I haven't checked in here nearly often enough given that you put this up almost 9 months ago. A lot of my listening and YouTube forays have been into the music of the Indian subcontinent. I watched/listened to enough of this to save it for later for the big screen/main stereo system.

McLaughlin and tabla player Zakir Hussein are touring this summer in an anniversary of their first album. The rest of the band are not the original members but of course they are all fantastic.

The term "World Music" is sounding a little parochial to me these days, now that I've lived in the Middle East and Asia these last 9 years..

But this one is from 1965. I bet Timothy Leary listened to this one in Millbrook while expanding his mind and those of his followers with this music and a little Sandoz or Owsley.

I heard Shankar live in concert at Chicago Orchestra Hall about 1966 so I'm a long-term fan. Heard him again in Santa Cruz about 2010 or so.
