The La De Das – Rock And Roll Sandwich
EMI – EMC-2504 '73
Recorded Live at Doncaster Theatre and at EMI's Sydney Studio

Formed in the early sixties in Te Atatu, West Auckland, New Zealand, originally as The Mergers, The La De Da's were known for their RnB styled raucous performances. They were signed to Zodiac but licensed to Philips for NZ release. Their debut album is regarded as a garage rock classic and is hard to find.
Moving to Australia in the late sixties they became one of that country's leading live acts until they split in 1975 with just Kevin Borich remaining from the original line-up.

Radio Birdman: The Essential

Mi0zMDg0LmpwZWc.jpeg

Older guy at work used to see these guys regularly in the 70's. It sometimes used to be 50/50 if the gig went ahead, they were deliberately provocative.

I was extra lucky around 2005/06
Manly Fishos Club, its old location,
the restaurant was in the rear of the band room, wife and I went for a normal Friday dinner.
Lots of commotion at the door to band room, unusual, I asked the waitress what was happening.
Answer; the gig was sold out weeks ago but people are still trying to get in.
Who's playing ?
Answer; Radio Birdman, and it's a bummer coz the punters won't eat.
OK, what if we stay here and keep ordering ?
Answer; fine but we are only open till 11:00pm.
Well, a fine night was had by all,
by the time they got on stage the restaurant was empty,
Birdman were on fire
staff came out of the kitchen to enjoy it,
We left with plenty of meals, and only got charged for about half, saw 3/4 of the gig for free.
Happy accident, 10/10
