Tonearm improvements for a Thorens TD 160?

muovimies: Thanks for that. I have a variety of foam from dense and stiff to very soft. Which do you recommend? On the other hand the turntable seems to be running fine without it, with no issues of picking up footfall vibration etc. So I'm torn between adding foam for the sake of completeness or going the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" route.
tnsilver: I'm onto it. Those wires are bloody fine though and much patience is required with my shaking hands. I have reduced the hum, but not removed it.
 
Ok. No beeps to the right channel earth (sheath). I'll replace the whole cable as it's a cheap and nasty affair.
 
I'll look into that tomorrow, cos I've had enough for one day and it's past beer o'clock in England.
If you mean the gold wire that comes out of the tonearm I have connected that to the chassis. Thanks again.
 
Dam. I have trimmed the green wire too short and it has just about disappeared into the tone arm. I think I'm gonna give up on this arm and see what's available on Ebay.
In the eye of this beer holder, it's a dam ugly thing anyway. tnsilver if I get fixed up with one you can have this one once I'm sorted. I'll get in touch.
