My just purchased ONKYO TA 2700 with a new belt has been recording and playing great but twice it's crinkled the tape I took the tape out straightened it out with a pencil in the tape wheel and than it played fine. I've never really took the slack out before playing because I've really never had any of these issues. Could the tape path be slightly out of line and do any of you take up the slack before playing. My JVC has automatic tape slack take up. Any INFORMATION is greatly appreciated.
Now you know why the JVC has auto slack take up.
My Nakamichi MR1 also has it, none of my other decks do, but I've always checked tapes before playing as far back as 1970 with my first portable recorder.
Isn't that what old Bic pens are for?
