Before this thread goes south,I feel the need to Jump in again.
I can agree wholeheartedly with twiiii.
Nothing else will do other than 15"s or bigger.
But I'm not alone knowing there are some speakers,
with just. I think 5, 6-1/2 woofers per side can and do,
dip down to the 20Hz.with the Volume some of us crave.
IE the 70,000$ McIntosh towers I heard at the NYC Javits center.
It just takes 500-1.250 watts to do it.
Back to the JBL Bookshelf choices.

You are so right. My Von Schweikert VR 4s (Gen IIs) will go to 20 HZ and they have two 8s per side.

And, for the record, I own JBLs with 5-inch drivers all the way up to 18-inch—and I love them all.
No, the 4345 will never sit on a bookshelf. By itself, it can be a pretty functional bookshelf though.

Nor am I the one. When the admission was made that some new speakers with small drivers can reach down to 20 HZ, I chimed in as I agree. Nothing more, nothing less…
That said, I never tried to put my L150As on a bookshelf either!

So let's wander even further from the thread question.
Why is it so hard to find measured response data on those claiming they reach 20Hz with two 8-inch drivers? And how many dBs down are they at that frequency? Advertising claims just don't impress me unless I can see them verified through some sort of test.
I’m not going to pretend I have tested them, so sorry to disappoint. I’ve read reviews where they have been tested (a link is provided below) and they went where the manufacturer claims they did. These weren’t mass- produced commercial speakers and I feel fortunate to have located this pair. These anre the anpeakers that anent my beloved L150As packing… Ask HJames the moderator about her own VR 4s and the bass they produce. They’re quite remarkable. I know, my claim is anecdotal, but if the compulsion bites me in the ass, I might test them. But then again, I might not.

The reviewer said 20Hz at 10dB down "in his room".

These days I have to bail on I-66 and struggle on 28 instead to avoid wanting to just blow my brains out. Hopefully you're in a pleasant oasis. My wife was raised in Annandale. I've seen the changes over the past 50-years and just avoid the whole area now. Unfortunately we refer to growth in our area as the "Loudounization" of Albemarle County. People migrate here in droves and then complain that we don't have enough sidewalks, or that their kids shouldn't have to go to class in trailers due to overcrowding, or bemoan our increase in crime, gun violence just not understanding it's following them here. And then there's the property tax increases associated with what many call "inevitable" growth.

Oh there are some great book shelf speakers. B&O made some, AR was all about book shelf speakers for a long time. AR-3, 3a, 2ax, etc. There was the Mcintosh ML-10 and ML-1. Even EV and Altec made some acceptable ones. But JBL, not so much, just like I didn't think a Klipsch Hersey was an acceptable book shelf speaker unless it was in a corner where mine were. I cheated and placed them against the ceiling in the corner. Boston, EPI and RTR made some decent book shelf speakers. JBL not so much. Of course they made so many different models they must have gotten one right. But if they did I never got to audition it. Another company that makes great book shelf speakers even today is M&K, but then you would need a sub to go with what ever model you chose. I mean if they are good enough to be monitors for Skywalker Sound of Marin County California and for Hollywood movie studios they should be right at the top of the list for anyone.
By the way my favorite 3 channel system was not Klipsch Corner horns and a Cornwall for the center. My favorite was at first 3 AR-3's and then later 3 AR-3a's. If you new the trick for a small room all you needed at the time was 1 MC 275 and a C-22. to drive the 3 speakers. I preferred 3 MC 75's 90 watts a speaker was better than about 40 watts a speaker with a 275 because of the impedance mis match compromise that had to be used.

Yeah, it’s awful and just getting worse (traffic and crime). I keep wondering how many more years this bloody 28 expansion/widening is going to go on. Let’s not even talk about 66 - good grief.
I have both 4349's and 4367's and have listened to the new L-100 Classics which I also like. But the 4349's are considerably better to me subjectively and they measure better as well.

Just ordered a clean pair, they should satisfy me….I have a quality 80 WPC vintage amp…..I had some L46 years ago which are bigger but also very good

Nice!! They really impress me. I replaced the single electrolytic capacitor and left the yellow film cap alone. Its usual maintenance I do on older speakers. Let us know how they sound!

Hello, recieved them yesterday & they are Like new….not used very much…I Listened to them for a few hours Last night & compared them to my ELAC DB 61 / B6 debuts made in 2015/ Andrew Jones ….they both sound great for there size, the JBLs are a little taller & heavier…I hit the terminal connectors with DE Oxit and looked inside…very clean & well Insulated…wood cabinets…made in the USA/ 1992 , still breaking them in…they sat for years, not used much
