I noticed that this site is lacking a dedicated TOYOTA thread, so I decided to start one.

Over the years members of my family have owned several Toyota vehicles including 70's era Land Cruiser, 1st and 2nd generation Supra, 1st and 2nd generation Cressida, Previa and Sienna vans, small truck and Tacoma, Tundra and Sequoia.

I have personally owned this V6 T100

My mom and two sisters currently drive Toyota vehicles, so there is no doubt that we are a Toyota family.

I had a 1971 Corona with the 8RC engine from about '78 through '81. Great car. I had a "hand me down" 78 Corona wagon from my parents in around '88 - '91. I think Toyotas are great cars, but this wagon was not one of them. It was an automatic, and the transmission died a premature death. It got very poor gas mileage. My GF is a huge Camry fan, and currently owns two - a 2007 and a 2024. Very different cars. I'm not a huge fan of the amount of complexity and what I consider to be unnecessary features, but that's the way the industry is going.
 
1969 Carolla that was the first non GM car my dad ever bought.
1980 Coralla was my first brand new car I ever bought.
1986 Coralla hatch back bought 1990, that got 40 MPG.
1993 Extra cab pick up. This was prior to Tacoma or T100. This was my last, so far.
 
1992 4 Runner, purchased new in late 1991.
worked well throughout its 93,000 mile time with us. Only 1 repair (Alternator replacement) during the 7 years we owned it.
 
04 Camry SE, four cylinder. Low mileage, 93K at present, garage kept, dealer serviced, relative was selling so I bought, five thousand about a year ago. Replaced all struts, new tires, great driving car, good mileage, uses 'no' oil, has a chain, no timing belt.
 
Wife had a ~90 Corolla 5-speed new that ran flawlessly and ditto for the 2013 Prius she still has. I purchased a new 2022 RAV4 hybrid that exceeded my expectation. My only complaint is the cabin is noisy, especially on rough roads. With only 25,000 miles I can’t comment on reliability.
 
On the other hand.........

As much I love the performance, driveability and features of my Avalon, it is hands-down, one of the ugliest cars I have ever owned - bar none. I have no way of rationalizing the Toyota "design philosophy" or "styling trends". They get uglier every year. Weird body lines, strange goo-gahs attached everywhere there is an open piece of sheet metal, and just uncool from any angle. They communicate nothing to me in the way of design.

Mine was also white, long box, 4x4. 22R engine, 5 speed. Tough as hell little go anywhere trucks.

Long gone, but I do get to have a ...."little".... fun with another one from time to time:

I've had many flavors of GM and 3 different Hyundai Sonatas in the past. I decided to try the 2012 Camry because my 2000 Sonata (new) was the biggest non-functional piece of sh!# I've ever owned, EVERYTHING broke on that car.
The Toyotas have been an absolute delight to own and would do it again.
 
I bought a new 2000 Avalon back in the Fall of 2019, and I still drive it to this day. I had it shipped to Belgium as my daily drive, then to Jordan and drove it there for three years, then had it sent to Paris for another three years...now it's here in the U.S. with me. Great car; only 127,000 miles on it. I'll probably wind up donating to the local public radio station...
 
Lots of Toyota love in our family.

I learned to drive on an '85 Tercel sedan stuck shift.
My first car was a '79 Corolla wagon.
Second car was an '81 Corolla Tercel sedan.
My parents had a '87 Tercel 4wd wagon. (Those things were amazing, and have a cult following now) and a '91 Corolla Alltrac wagon.
My brother had a '94 Camry wagon, a Gen 4 4Runner, two 1st Gen Lexus LS400, and now drives a '14 Lexus GX470.
I've had a '02 Camry xle, and now drive an '05 Avalon Limited.

My In laws bought a New 92 Corolla that is still running today. It was passed down to two grandkids that used it in college! An uncle did the same with his Camry I believe it was a 93. He passed it his son who drove it until about 2014 then he traded it in for a newer car... I hoping my 2024 Camry will give us 20 years of reliability, heck I would be happy with 10 years without problems given out past cars.
