I've been listening to my A-07 for months now and thought all was great...until I put on Roger Water's "Amused to Death" album and played "What God Wants". This album has a lot of sonic trickery that comes alive on a properly set up system.
The little urchin talking at the beginning of this track can appear to be directly to your left if all your setup has been done properly...in this case the kid was anchored to the left speaker, never any apparent detachment from it...
So, keeping everything else the same I subbed in my ModWright KWA-100SE amplifier.
Ahhh, OK this is what something that listed for 50 times the Aiyama price does to justify its existence...there's more "there" here, more space, soundstage height, width, and depth along with clearer and better frequency extension, more emotion, more "air"...I liked the Aiyima well enough, but listening to one piece of gear for months on end really lets you know more about the sound quality than a rapid A/B test...I mean now that the holography and imaging is almost psychedelic!
And yes, the little urchin is back in his spot to the left of me!
I've been using the little amp to combat heat and high electrical service bills during our extremely warm summer down here in South Texas...
I'll keep the Aiyima, but probably wont put it back in the main system again, now, there's a cold front coming this weekend maybe I'll sub in my MC-240 or Sound Valves VTA-70i for some tube fun...they also take place of firing up heaters when the weather is cool.
