Tractrix horn for a K-55V {cornwall}

... and a 3" throat

Don't confuse the voice coil size with the throat size. The FaitalPRO LTH142 horn on the Cornscala D speakers have a 1.4" throat and the Klipsch K-510 horn in the KI-396 have a 2" throat. All the Klipsch consumer models use a 1" throat.

The downside to the 2" throat is that my speakers only extend to 18.5Khz, but there's not a lot of musical information above 18.5Khz anyway. The clarity I get in the mids from the larger throat more than makes up for it. I would have a really hard time ever going back.

The horns you linked to on Ebay in your post that got deleted are from these speakers (in the link below) which crossover at 1400hz. You'd be taking a big chance trying to use these in a Cornwall build.

Klipsch still makes the K-603 horn that was used in the CF-4. They pair it with their K-70-G driver in their KPT-310-M cinema speaker. It may be possible to buy just the HF section of that speaker.

He speaks the truth....

It's amazing how much difference there are in these 2" horns. I've heard it said that "once you hear some of these bigger horns, the residential speakers start to sound more like toy speakers"

That's as close to direct quote as I can recall (however, it was said probably 10 years ago.....so I reserve the right to be a little off base with memory!!!)

I don't know that I've ever heard the Chorus line so my only background is with the Cornwall. I'll defer to those who think it's more like a Chorus on steroids....

No matter how you slice it, they sound good.

OKOK I get it... Ill have to sell my dog but it seems like i need a 2" horn (tractrix) and a new driver. 8791D14E-98BB-4E26-B2B7-43A32B18219B.jpegHis name is Roman...He's a good dog. Ill start the bidding @...?

Just for the record that was a joke
OK... here's the Plan...
Klipsch cornwall’s ::;::
15” woofer: K-33A or JBL 2216 ? Front mounted

Mid : k-55 or jbl 2420 ? coupled w/ these-8B463B2E-F5EC-44A8-BD77-ED0BC0AF0A70.jpeg 18x8x9D flush mounted
Tweeties: Super Dave’s Super tractrix mod 2 / b&e 120 or Jbl 2402 ??? Top mountedC6CCCA41-6BE8-4DCD-BAAB-B3403468F307.jpeg
I would like to have a steep slope but I don’t know how to build a crossover and I can’t afford to buy one plus I just don’t know ...?
BobCrites B2 or upgrade My B ?
Brace the **** out of the cabinets as well as the horns using oak dowels and Dyna Matt or something like that as well as paint the inside of the cabinet w/ a rubber membrane seal.
All the square edges on the ports and on the inside will be rounded. Lastly, ill have all the speakers and drivers time aligned.
And for now… I think that might be it. I’m sure I forgot something and I’m looking forward to anyone’s advice.
Cheers and Thanks!

I was waiting for the starting bid on your wife..... however, mine might not appreciate that too much...

If you want to keep it all Klipsch, you might look at their K510. It's growing in popularity for those who don't want to receive divorce paperwork for bringing the huge K402 home.

You don't live anywhere near Knoxville, TN do you?? I've got a 510 that you could hear (though it's not mated to anything near what a Cornwall is)

By the way..... FINE looking dog you have there!!!

Asking on Woofer choices
I thought about the Jbl Woofer listed.
And the cabinets aren’t big enough for them to
Work probably.
If you tried the Jbl’s any way
I would be curious of the results

Sorry I got to the party late. Parts express had some B52 horns in a buyout (sold out now) but here is the link. https://www.parts-express.com/sh450-2-horn-9-3-4-x-17-3-4-4-bolt--299-2305. Specs show lowest crossover point is 400Hz. the type flair is not indicated on the PE link.

I bought a bunch of these (and the 299-2304 which is a 1" horn and smaller) but haven't hooked them up yet. I also bought some PRV 2" adapter 294-2941 with the idea of mating the K-55 or other 1 3/8" driver to the 2" adapter. Has anyone done this?

I've got one mounted to a front board for a Belle clone I was building with a 6 x 6" klipsch tractrix tweeter horn on the side. Change of plans on that when my buddy found the Belle mid horn which is tough to find. I'll try this out as weather permits. Hopefully it will open up the mids

Here are some pics of the 2304 and the Klipsch tractrix tweeter horn

Nyjbkbib - enough I was just thinking about this last night. If the woofer is too big for that cabinet would it make sense to simply expand the size off the ports?
Longdriver - thanks for the info. I'm curious about the 2 inch adapter I never thought of that...

I'll post pics pretty soon.... I have to do laundry first, and then the dishes oh yeah I should vacuum as well..... menial tasks are

wearing me out
