i know some old switches etc can get badly corroded inside and no amount of cleaner can shift it .

Right I get that, I just believe mine to be okay because I get continuity from where my left signal leaves my amp board to the terminal at the end of my speaker wire. Also, I get continuity across my pins on both the scratch filter and the mono/stereo switch. So I'm pretty sure my switches aren't the issue. However, the issue still could lie with the balance pots I don't have a good way of testing those unless I pulled them out of the circuit which might be more trouble than it's worth. Does anyone know if there's two separate pots for balance? One controlling the left side and the other controlling the right? Or only one with middle or neutral being designated somewhere in the middle of the pots range?

will be a dual pot 6 wires . same with vol but that might have extra wires for loudness taps .. what i would do is get down and dirty with it and touch the vol controls pins with a finger and see if speaker hums . if it does you know the main amp is working .

I think I'm loosing something in this explanation. It's not obvious to me that the sound will come from the other speaker if you swap the RCA at the amplifier input.
I switched the speaker wires around to make sure that both speakers work, and they did but just one at a time. In my picture "airline testing with speakers" it is the grey and black plugs, you can even see them twisted in the picture I must've switched them already before I even took the picture.
Sorry for confusing wording.
