I have spent the last several months piecing together a system I am very happy with. There is still much to be done but what I have done and the music I get to enjoy are everything I could have wanted.

Gear is:
Rack - Steve Blinn Rack with Danish stain.
TT - VPI Classic 3 w/Ortofon Cadenza Red MC using Wireworld Eclipse 7 IC
Mac Book Pro
DAC - D100 using Mcintosh Balanced IC
Preamp - C2300
Amplifier - MC275LE in mono using Mcintosh Balanced IC
Power Conditioner - Bryston BIT20
Speakers - XR100 using Mcintosh speaker cables

Thank you, quality sound is first priority but being in the home it needs to be pleasing to the eye as well.

Thank you! I wanted to make sure that I had plenty of room to get behind the system and make any changes needed. I also like that I can organize the cables with ease. Once all the power cords are upgraded I will start strapping stuff down.

Good work. I'd love to hear more about your speakers. Mac speakers are a bit of a rarity around here. Great looking home as well. :thmbsp:

Thank you! Within the 5-20k dollar range I listened to many many speakers with different setups. I did this over a 5 month period comparing different brands. For me personally the XR100s fit the bill perfectly. They do not sound like old Mc speakers, these sound amazing (to me). Every person has their own opinions and I went with mine after many auditions and have no regrets. They are worth your time to listen to if you are considering speakers in this price range.

The XR-100s and in fact the entire XR range is a great design concept incorporating "line source array" theory to maximize patter control over the bandwidth of the speaker array.
They have a very tightly controlled vertical dispersion to minimize reflections of ceilings and floors whilst retaining a controlled horizontal dispersion enough for coverage of the listening area.....

I would love to be able to hear a pair of XR100s, they look like the perfect speaker for me....
However beyond my budget sadly.....

Very impressive system, you have everything there which appeals to me....Very nice......:thmbsp:

No problems, I love this speakers technology, I'm glad McIntosh are using this technology because I know they will doing it right......:yes:
You might probably notice if you move around the room you will retain quite a significant stereo image, even if you are way off centre.....and the sound (balance over the speakers bandwidth) wont change a great deal as you move around within the coverage of the speakers....
This is due to the geometry of the drivers in the cabinet and the bandwidth covered by the drivers....
I really wish I could hear a set of these, very difficult living in a country where there is no McIntosh dealer....:sigh:
Its great to see this technology coming into domestic HiFi however....

All this not to mention the rest of your system.....I imagine you will get years of immense enjoyment out this system, I would never leave the room!!:yes:

I completely concur with your assessment, I can indeed move around the room and feel like I'm hearing a decent soundstage. Heck it sounds good when I have it turned up loud and am in a different part of the home. And yes the hardest part of the day is hitting that power off button before calling it a night. I could stay in this room everyday all day :music:
