Trey's system - aka HiFiCrossFit

I completely concur with your assessment, I can indeed move around the room and feel like I'm hearing a decent soundstage. Heck it sounds good when I have it turned up loud and am in a different part of the home. And yes the hardest part of the day is hitting that power off button before calling it a night. I could stay in this room everyday all day :music:

All the more reason I would just love to be able to hear a pair........I am quite familiar with the technology going on here which we use in the Pro world, I was wondering when a serious Hi Fi Manufacturer would release speakers like this...

I have high powered coaxial 2way speakers (with subs) which sound amazing, but they are a 100˚ conical dispersion so they will encounter surfaces like the ceiling and floor, but luckily my listening area is not very conducive to reflections so its not posing any real issues....But, it is much much better to have the sound only going where is in needed.....
And that will be why you can hear it so well when you are in other rooms, because of minimal reflections, you wont be experiencing reflections which will resonate in the room and cause intelligibility issues....
Nice......:thmbsp:

I may well be over in the USA some time at the end of this year early next year and I plan to visit a Mc dealer.....I need to hear some XR speakers...

Indeed it must be hard hitting that power switch at the end of the night.......

Man, you really know your stuff
I hope you do get the chance to audition the XR100s. I was fortunate in that my dealer let me hear them on the MC601s, MC452s, MC275s, and the larger peachtree amp, I believe it's a 220 watt per channel. I could probably been happy with any of those Mcintosh amps but there was just something about the tube amps that did it for me, man those mids and highs are beautiful. There are still many things I want to do to tweek the system but the large part of it is done.

I do have to say, that is a great looking system you have there. :thmbsp:

The one thing I like about what McIntosh does, is they just keep that certain old school feeling with their tech of today, really is pretty cool to see. I wouldn't be able to pay the price for their products, but there supposedly a dealer 30 minutes away, might have to check just to see the products in person. :scratch2:

In any case, congratulations for a beautiful setup, in which looks like a beautiful home as well. (Just by what I am seeing the wooden walls, I love wood. )

I completely agree, I love that I have newer technology in a very sweet looking package. Mcintosh has a very enjoyable look that makes it easier to enjoy in your home. The system is in my living room and it has wood walls, it's a very relaxing place to read a book, drink some coffee or hot tea, and listen to music. I am fortunate that my wife enjoys these activities as much as I do and we get to do them together.

You sure got all the good Mac stuff. Are 2-275's in mono noticeable better than one in stereo? I don't know if your speakers allow for it, but have you tried vertical bi-amping with one amp in stereo per speaker, with each channel powering the highs and lows.

I got to play with a pair of 275s on some Canton Reference. Myself and the owner preferred the mono approach over the biamp.

Beautiful setup Hificrossfit! Great synergy indeed.

Having 2 MC275s in mono (with my speakers) makes a huge difference. I'm sure you could run one amp in stereo but I do not believe it a wise decision. With two amps in Mono I feel nothing is lacking. I still need to upgrade the power cables and tubes but as is I am beyond satisfied. This system brings happiness to me every day. I love to spin records but feel there is a lot of tweaking still to be done before I'm completely satisfied on that front.

Very desirable system you have assembled. Lovely paneled walls too. The combination make for a pleasant experience I'm sure.

Beautiful system and a gorgeous home to go with it!

Thanks ever so much for sharing it/them with us! :thmbsp:

Thanks guys! This room has a warm feel to it that complements tubes nicely. I especially enjoy late night listening and winter months are very cozy here.

Ahhhhh those XR100's are glamorous. I have yet to hear a pair in person though so I've got to get to my dealer and hope they have them in the showroom. Really anxious to hear how they sound.

No doubt about it, sound is largely subjective to the individual. With that said I couldn't be happier with the XR100s...they just do the job well. A couple of unique things: they have a very broad sweet spot so music sounds great throughout the whole room, I get all the volume and dynamics I need from the 2 MC275s, they are pretty to look at, they are fast as in I believe they resolve complex compositions easily so that you catch more of the micro details that can be missed in other speakers (I attribute this to the many drivers), and the price is good when you compare how crazy this hobby can get price wise. Sure there is way better out there but if you are in the market for new speakers and have the ability to give these a listen then do it!

WOW. Just WOW. That is awesome dude. How do you like the D100? Im thinking about saving up and getting one. How's the DAC? Are you using it as a preamp or just the DAC?
