TriTrix TL or Solstice

I had a chance to hear the TriTrix TL’s at the Staten Island meet that Chris brought and I fell in love with them. I could not believe the sound came out of those speakers and their cost. That being said I also love the design and look of the Parts Express solstice speakers. The big question is are the solstice worth three times the price or more of the TriTrix? Would I be able to hear that big of a difference between the two. Jazz,Blues and some classic rock are my main genres. I’m currently using a musical paradise MP301 tube amp. I will be adding a slightly more powerful tube amp over the summer possibly if this makes a difference. Is the staging that much more impressive with the Solstice? I do not currently have a sub to use so I’m looking for the best bass response I can get. Not CV type bass but a full, sharp bottom end. I’m also looking to build these myself.

Solstice Speaker Kit

Part of my issue is I have seen all the amazing reviews on the PE forums about the Soltices. I’m looking to build a pair of speakers that will last me a few years. Dropping a grand on a pair has the wife looking at me with that grin if you know what I mean. She likes the way the Sols look and knows I will make them look acceptable in a LR. Was just curious if anyone on AK had any experience. The TL’s that Chris demoed at the SI show were pretty impressive. Big issue is, are the Sols 3x as impressive lol

I've not heard either but I've built a number of speakers and heard many diy designs. My avatar is diy of my own design using seas prestige drivers.

Id go solstice if it were my dollars. With diy the advantage is being able to use high quality drivers and not break the bank. The driver spec on the solstice is miles ahead of the tri trix which is more a budget design. The better diy stuff I've heard always used top shelf drivers; usually seas or scanspeak, peerless etc.

Another option if you really don't mind spending around a grand and want some phenomenal speakers is the lx mini kit from madisound. These speakers sound amazing!!! Hell all the Linkwitz designs sound awesome and he is not in great health so access to his designs might not be around much longer. If you are at all interested in them act now.

Excellent work on the cabs! Nice matching of the grain at the corners.
The best it yet to come when you start the finishing process and really bring out the beauty of the wood.

Thanks Glenn, a good friend did them for me as well as a Marantz 2230 in cherry. The backs and bottom of the TriTrix are dark grey Formica, the baffles are the green you see, wish I had gone with a matte cream. The bass the TriTrix produce just fill the room so nicely.
